Chapter 16: The Apology

Techno walked out of the tent, he went looking for his little brother, he wasn't anywhere to be seen, he figured he didn't want to be found due to obvious reasons he probably wanted to be alone- but it wasn't in his best interest, so he thought through all the places that Techno and Wilbur would go when they would want to get away; there was one place that stuck out in his mind

Carl was tied up in the village, he was tied up next to Firecracker but he was gone, so Techno knew he was right in where he thought he was going

He rode for a while in almost complete silence besides the clattering of Carl's hooves against the hard dirt- looking around at the familiar scenery around him, he came to the place where he knew his brother would be, he saw Firecracker tied up to a tree, he knew for sure he was in the right place; Techno dismounted Carl and tied him to the tree next to Firecracker; he looked out at the lake that was in front of him the water shimmered in the evening sun, he looked over to the one place he knew Wilbur would be, he was right

He found his brother leaning against a familiar tree, Techno walked up silently next to his brother and sat down next to him, Techno looked at his brother he noticed his crown was sitting next to him He wasn't wearing it, Wilbur didn't acknowledge him, it was silent for a while, it felt like an eternity the silence was only broken by the chirping of the birds and the soft breathing of the two brothers both of them watching the calm blue water-

Techno looked over at Wilbur he had a blank look on his face, his glasses reflected the suns beautiful rays

Techno sighed and looked back at the lake it's shimmering water was beautiful yet blinding, Techno sighed and looked over at his brother, "I never thought I'd ever come back here" Techno said solemnly reflecting on his life slightly, "I come here a lot" Wilbur mumbled with a sad sorrowful look on his face-, he paused and pulled one of his knees up to himself and rested him arm on it.

"Why?" Techno asked looking back at the muddy shore of the lake, he'd remembered the day that they came, Tommy was running around grabbing rocks wanting to skip them, Techno wanted to tell his brother the one secret that he was afraid to tell- his heart ached thinking back to that day- he'd had nightmares constantly reminding him of the day that changed the course of his life.

Techno was brought out of his memory by Wilbur, "I replayed that day in my mind so many times, wishing I hadn't - left" Wilbur said looking down for a moment then he looked back at the peaceful water- calm and serene- like Wilbur wished his life was- but his life was nothing but chaos and pandemonium since Techno left.

"Wilbur, I told you to leave, you and Tommy would've been hurt otherwise" Techno said to his little brother, Wilbur noticed the emotion behind his brothers voice it wasn't monotone or sarcastic, but loving and protective- something he'd longed to hear but rejected in the moment-

"maybe- maybe if i had gone back faster- if I had just- just-" Wilbur paused a tear coming to his eye at the thought of what he could've done better- maybe he could've helped him- maybe he could've stopped the Fire god- maybe-, he was brought out of his thoughts by Techno-, "Wilbur, I never wanted you to see what I did, you couldn't have brought me back" he paused and thought, "nobody could've" Techno sighed and looked down at his hands, seeing the scars from what he'd done to himself and what others had done to him, the wounds may have healed but the scars would always serve as a reminder of what he'd done- his heart held a dull throb- remembering things he's tried for so long to forget-

"You're wrong- I could've— I could've brought you back- Technoblade why did you have to leave?" Wilbur said now looking at his brother who had a solemn look on his face- he scanned Technos face- waiting for a trace of something- a familiar emotion- a sign that he was actually hearing him-, "Wil I couldn't stay they had gotten very demanding..." Techno paused the voices started whispering- Wil if I hadn't left I would've killed someone, it probably would've been - me" Techno said a tremble came to his voice, Wilbur was taken aback, "I did it to save you" Techno said in a quiet voice- he was quietly lying to himself- and Wilbur knew it-
