Derik's POV

All along the way we had minor mental conversations, I had found out that Hayle was next in line to take the throne in the underwater city of Fai which translated to royalty, he was a prince! This made this whole ordeal even stranger. We stopped every now and again when I needed air, he would close his eyes and I could see his gills moving as they sucked in water, and he would lean in and place his lips on mine and passes it off to me to use. It wasn't too often that we had to stop since I could hold my breath for a minute and a half tops, and with every flick of his tail he propelled us forward steadily, but quickly.

'We are almost there.' He said in my head, I heard obvious excitement in this statement and it made me smile.

'I can't wait' I replied, it was mostly true, but at the same time I thought back to my previous thoughts, will I be able to live comfortably?

We swam a few more minutes, and I spotted a giant chasm ahead. It was dark and I stopped paddling my feet, my one and absolute phobia besides Aaron is the dark and I really did not like the look of it at all.

Hayle noticed my hand squeezing his harder, and he squeezed back reassuringly. I looked at him and he smiled his dazzling smile, showing bright white teeth, 'I'll be right here the whole time okay?' He said making me feel a lot better, enough to do it, but not enough to completely eradicate my fear.

We dived downwards into the chasm and after a minute or two we were in complete darkness. If I was not already wet I would be sweating at this point, 'what if I get eaten by some giant fish with razor sharp teeth' and I felt his arm shaking I wanted to ask if he was okay until he said, 'you don't h-have to worry about big fish wi-with sharp teeth!'

He was laughing at me! I frowned in the dark, 'well you never know.' I countered.

We came to a stop and I felt his other hand come up to my face, 'one more breathe okay?" I nodded into his hand not even able to think as I pictured his face coming closer, and then I felt his lips on mine. After I refilled my lungs his lips were still pressed to mine and it was a bit embarrassing, not only because I tolerated the air kiss because he was helping me, but I had never kissed another man before, even a fish man if you want to be technical.

He pulled away but the water where he had floated a minute ago still felt warm, I felt like I needed him I wanted him, wanted him as close to me as I could possibly get and stay that way forever. My thoughts were interrupted by a rumbling that scared me enough for me to let loose some of my air which wasn't the smartest, but it scared the shit out of me, the rumbling continued and a light came from my right I looked and saw the chasm wall splitting open to reveal an opening. Hayle pulled on my hand telling me to follow him, and I did. The light was so beautiful, it was unnatural, it wasn't the sun it was something more.

The light got brighter and I had to cover my eyes, when I was able to open then again I felt my eyes go wide as I took in everything.

We were inside the biggest cave I have ever seen, stretching for miles on all sides. And in the middle of this cave was a city, a city made of gold, silver, bronze, jewels, anything that shined, it was all there, and all around the city a wall that was made of what looked like coral. We swam towards it me still gawking and Hayle whose hand was getting tighter and tighter as we neared the amazing city.

I looked over at him, 'what's wrong?' I asked giving him a sympathetic look.

His face was all smiles when he notice I was looking at him, 'nothing, what do you think of my home?' he asked
