Different than you thought you would be
White. Everything is white.
The vision of this whiteness puzzled Win's minds. Nasaan siya? He tried to remember the last voice he heard and it was clear to him that it's Bright's. He moved his hand and felt another one holding it.
When he turned his head to the person beside him, his heart skipped a beat nang makita ang gwapong mukha ng asawa.
"Hey, baby," bungad ni Bright kay Win. "Are you feeling okay?" tanong nito.
With a rasp on his voice, Win answered, "Yes."
And he didn't know why that simple confirmation sent a pool of emotions in him. Bigla ang pag-ahon ng pag-aalala, lungkot, saya, at takot sa buong sistema niya. "I didn't understand what you said before I passed out. Bright... Bright... please, please, tell me you're not dying, please?" nagsimulang maging in panic ang tinig ni Win.
Bright stood up from his seat and took Win to his arms to pacify him. "Sssshh... baby, calm down. Shhh," pagpapatigil niya dito dahil nagsimula na rin itong humikbi. "Ssshh... No one's going to die. Not when I have another baby to take care of, hmmm, right?" Bright's tone became even more comforting.
Suminghot muna si Win bago tiningnan si Bright. Pero parang ayaw niya rin sanang bumitaw sa pagkakayakap dito. Masyado siyang maraming pangamba sa ngayon. At kung tutuusin, marami pa rin siyang tanong. Hindi niya alam kung saan magsisimula.
"You're pregnant, baby. And do you know how that made me the happiest?" buong suyong tanong ni Bright dito.
Bumitaw sandali si Win kay Bright. He hit Bright in the shoulder and pouted, "Pero marami ka pang dapat ipaliwanag."
"I know. And I'm ready. Let's just wait for the doctor, baby. He will give us the results of your check up. I asked him to run some tests for you para confirmed kung ilang weeks na ang baby," sabi ni Bright.
Not another minute later, pumasok ang doctor sa loob ng kwarto. And his smile confirmed na positive nga ang pagbubuntis ni Win. "It's three weeks, Mr. Tan. Congratulations!"
"Yes!" biglang sigaw ni Bright.
"Shhh," saway naman ni Win, natatawa na siya sa ginawa ni Bright.
"And no need to worry, okay naman ang asawa mo. Siguro nahilo lang ulit siya kanina kaya nahimatay. You can go now, just make sure that he'll regularly have his consultations," paliwanag ng doctor.
"We will doc, thank you!" pagpapasalamat ni Bright.
Sakto din naman na ng magpaalam ang doctor ay bumukas din ang pinto at iniluwa niyon si Nyle kasama ang lola niya. "Papa!" tawag nito kay Win.
"Hi, baby!" tawag pabalik ni Win. Hinalikan niya ito sa pisngi matapos iangat ni Bright sa kanyang kama.
"Are you okay?" tanong nitong muli kay Win.
"Yes, he's okay. And you know what, baby?" pagtatanong ni Bright kay Nyle.
Nyle's eyes sparkled as the excitement in Bright's face was very evident. Tila naexcite din ito sa sasabihin ng ama. "You're going to be a brother!" puno ng tuwang anunsyo ni Bright sa anak.
Nyle's eyes widened tapos ay pabalik balik na tiningnan ang dalawang ama. "Really?" pagkumpirma nito.
Win nodded his head to confirm. Bigla ang pagtili ni Nyle, tapos ay sinabing, "I'm happy, Papa!" sabi nito habang niyayakap si Win.
