"Too bad! This is my win, Take-chan!"

"No, not yet! It's not over!"

"But I think it is!"

It was one fine morning in the Hanagaki household the next day. Akari was invited by her cousin, Takemichi, to his bedroom to play a one-on-one fighting game with him on his video game console after they finished their breakfast. The room was filled with nothing but their loud voices and laughs as they were battling against each other in a heated duel. They sat next to one another on the floor with their blue eyes glued to the TV screen and their thumbs busy clicking the buttons on their gamepads at rapid speed.

"Darn it! You're not playing fair, Akari!" Takemichi blurted out as he plopped himself down on the floor after the game ended with Akari's chosen character held as the victor by knockout. It was actually almost a one-sided match. "How can you be this good?!?"

"It's what you called being strategic, Take-chan!" Akari boasted triumphantly at her cousin and gave him a victory sign. She grinned at him rather smugly. "Now, the loser has to obey anything the winner demands for a day! A bet is a bet~"

"Aaargghh!" Takemichi scratched his tousled head vigorously and sprang himself back to his seat, crossing his legs. He shot her a piercing stare and pointed his index finger in front of her face. "One more round!"

Akari was quite impressed by his desire to win even though he kept on losing in every single match they had. "I don't mind playing another round with you but we've been playing this game for over two hours already, Take-chan. I don't think Auntie Chiako will allow us to play longer. It will be lunchtime soon."

"Don't worry. Mom won't mind. It's summer vacation after all. Might as well enjoy it."

Well, he actually got a point there. "I guess you're right," she agreed nonchalantly.

"Takemichi! Your friends are here!" they suddenly heard Chiako shouting downstairs, making them both glance at the slightly opened door.

"Just tell them to come over to my room, mom!" Takemichi shouted back to his mother.

"Oh, could that be Takuya-kun and the others?" Akari questioned him. "Did you invite those guys over?"

"Nah. Not really. They usually come over to my house unannounced just to hang out."

She hummed in understanding. "You guys must be really close, huh."

"Heya, Takemichi!" Yamagishi greeted with too much enthusiasm as he entered the room so casually followed by their other three friends.
