Little Harrington (Eddie Munson)

Chapter five

You could sense the fear in the silence. Everyone's minds were running all over the place. The new fear that was put into everyone knowing that what we thought was over was unfortunately not. I was shaken out of my thoughts when max grabbed my hand, I assumed she just want to play with Billy's ring but she told me to go with her and she pulled to the door and then dragged me outside. "We told him about everything, the upside down and El and even the Billy and the mind flayer situation. But once we brought up Billy he asked about you, his main concern was if you were okay and he was scared that what's going on now was going to bring back bad memories" he wasn't wrong about that. Hearing about Venca and his curse did nothing but bring fear and old memories back to my brain but why ask about me he should be more concerned about himself. He is currently a wanted man. Maybe she knew why he mentioned me, "Why did he ask about me, shouldn't he be more concerned about himself?" I wasn't about to dabble into what he had going on. I believe that he's innocent and that it was Vecna but still it hurts to know that he was the last person to see Chrissy. I didn't even get to ask her if she was okay from when she walked out of Ms. Kelly's office yesterday. "Y/n I don't know what he wants with you or what he feels but he feels something. He's been staring at you nonstop and obviously he is concerned about you. Maybe you two need to talk." I just shook my head in disbelief, he probably just feels pity like everyone else in this town. Anywhere Me and Max go in public we get looks of pity thrown at us from every direction. The group did it too for a few weeks until we begged them to stop and just be normal and which they kindly listened. Something in my gut told me to just talk to him, a conversation won't hurt. "Fine, I'll see" Max just smiled back at me but it wasn't nothing faked or forced it was a real and soft smile and that's what made me decide to actually do it, to actually talk to Eddie. I grabbed her hand as we went back inside. Eddie's eyes went directly to mine, they were soft but with a look of concern behind them. Steve and Robin and Dustin all got up and walked over to me and Max. " We're gonna go for the night alright? We'll be back tomorrow in the morning" you could hear the reassurance in Dustin's voice. He's always been such a sweet and caring kid. That's why him and Max are my favorites. " I'm staying with Eddie for tonight. I'll keep look out to make sure everything is okay" I don't even know why I said that but it came out before I could fully register what I said. Everyone turned to look at me and I could already tell the Steve didn't really like the idea but Dustin, Max, and Robin loved it. " Y/n do you understand how dangerous that is? Are you crazy" Steve had his hands on his hips like a concerned mother. "It'll be fine Steve, I'll make sure she's okay. I promise." I didn't really expect Eddie to want me to stay but obviously he did. Steve got quite for a moment and just shook his head in disbelief "Fine, but if she goes missing or gets hurt then I'm going to kill you, got it Munson?" I wasn't going to leave anyways even if Steve said no but now at least there won't be a fight. " I promise Harrington" you could slightly hear the excitement in his voice and that made my cheeks flush up. The group walked to the door and as they walked out Steve made sure to hug me as we all bid our goodbyes. Me and Eddie watched everyone pile into the car and drive away through the window. Eddie sat back down in his boat and motioned for me to come join him. I accepted and as I was climbing into the boat Eddie grabbed my hand to steady me so I would fall and either break something in the shed or break something in my body. I pushed the blue tarp to the end of the boat so I didn't sit on his blanket for the night with my shoes on. That would be just wrong of me. There was a bit of silence but I knew now would be the time to ask the questions I had sitting in my mind. "When Max mentioned the mind flayer and Billy, why did you ask about me and why was you concerned and worried about me?" He looked over kinda surprised like he was surprised that I heard about him asking about me. I could see him playing with his rings on his left hand that's when I looked down and realized that we were still holdings hands. His right hand intertwined with my left hand and yet I didn't want to let go and that's exactly what happened. I didn't let go. "Y/n I'm going to be honest with you and please don't be mad." I could feel him tense up but I just gave his hand a soft squeeze hoping that he knew I meant it in a reassuring way. "Ever since the first day Dustin mentioned you to me and told me about how kind and caring you are and how you and Steve are basically like his parents I knew I needed to meet you. I love Dustin like a little brother and I adored how much he cared about you. That's when I realized who you were and that I had you in some of my classes but I never really fought myself against the idea of just minding my business about you. That's why we didn't fully talk until yesterday." He went from looking around to avoid my eyes to now looking in them. I think he was looking for confirmation on if I was getting weirded out or not and honestly I wasn't. It was sweet hearing how he felt about Dustin. Dustin would mention Eddie but I never really was bothered to learn and take note of Eddie's name maybe I should have actually taken note of his name. " I love your rings by the way" I didn't know what to say so that was the only thing that came out of my mouth. He looked down at our hands and noticed that we were still holding hands, I'm surprised he didn't fully notice when I literally squeezed his hand. I could see his cheeks go red and he smiled and looked up, "what's your favorite one." I looked back down so I could decide and give him an answer to his question. My eye was instantly drawn to the single one that he had on his right hand. It was a nice copper color and it had a thin band so it wasn't as bulky as the ones on his left hand. The band was covered in a black and white design going all the way around and then in the middle as the center piece there was a stone with the same black and white splattered design and honestly it was simple yet very beautiful. "This one" I said as I pointed to the ring I had just examined. He then let go of my hand and used his other hand to take the ring off of his right hand and slip it onto my right ring finger, just like how he had it on his hand. Somehow it fit just fine. I don't know how but it did. It felt nice to have his ring there. It was strange but also nice. It looked nice too. I looked up from my hand to smile at him but when I looked up he was already smiling at me. "Thank you Eddie, it's really pretty" I couldn't help but let my cheeks turn pink as I smiled from ear to ear but his smile was different, it was soft and warm and comforting. It made things seems calm and safe even if the upside down is open again. I looked down at my watch and saw that it was already almost one in the morning "oh shit it's getting late. I can sleep on the floor if you want. You can sleep in your little boat" Did I really want to sleep on the floor? Fuck no, but I'm not about to push any limits and ask to sleep in his boat. "If it's okay with you, you can sleep in here with me. There's enough room for the both of us anyways." There's the offer. It was an offer I wasn't not about to deny. I grabbed the tarp and draped it over us while we were moving around to get comfortable. If I'm being honest, the tarp is itchy like no other but I guess it's what I signed up for when I said I was staying with Eddie. I had my back facing him and he had his back facing me. Slowly we both started scooting over so our back were touching and as the wind picked up you could feel it getting colder inside the shed. I'm assuming there is a hole in the wall somewhere that's letting the cold air in. The tarp wasn't giving me any warmth and actually it was slightly making me colder. I'm assuming Eddie could feel my goosebumps from how cold I was because he turned over do now my back was touching his chest he snaked his arm around my waist and even under this cold tarp he was still warm. I'm assuming it was because of his jackets but oh well at least it's starting to warm me up. I slowly started to drift to sleep. I was woken up to some loud bangs and I looked over and Eddie was sitting next to me holding on to me like he was trying to protect me while he was point the same broken bottle from last night towards the door. He looked over at me once he realized whatever was going on outside had woken me up "it's okay y/n go back to sleep" he sounded like he was trying to get a baby to fall back asleep, since he was already sitting up I laid my head on his lap and with his free hand he starts pushing my hair out of my face and started running his hands though my hair. I slowly started to close my eyes to try and go back to sleep and then a loud bang from the door caused me to snap open my eyes "HEY!" Dustin sounded ecstatic to see us, well to probably see that we're still here and not in jail or dead. I then closed my eyes because we weren't in danger which meant that I'm going back to sleep. I don't care what time it is, it's way too early. "Wait why is y/n laying in your lap?" I could literally picture the smirk that's on Robin's face right now "You guys woke me up with all your loud banging and my head was in his lap so I could fall bad to sleep while he watched the door to make sure nothing happened" I just wanted to go to sleep. Honestly I wanted sleep in my bed or any bed at that, I was already tired of this dumb boat. I just kept my head there but i at least opened my eyes. Eddie was still holding the bottle in his left hand and had his hand in my hair with his right one. I looked at his bare right hand and then looked down at my right hand. His ring. I looked up at the door and saw everyone staring at me. Robin had a smirk on her face, Dustin was grinning like always, Steve just did a simple quick wave, and Max looked happy.  "Why are you so happy?" Max's smile brought a smile to my face and I just needed to know what made her feel this way. "Look at you two love birds I can already see the relationship going on" Max wasn't even fully done with her sentence before Robin's smirk got even bigger. I just playfully rolled my eyes  "Mhm whatever you say Max" Dustin walked over to the boat and set down plastic bags that had stuff in them and the other three followed him and did the same thing. It was food and drinks for Eddie. He hasn't eaten for over a day now. He needs food and water in his system and I think he agreed with me too. He grabbed a box of cereal quickly out of one of the bags and almost hit me with it in the process. "Watch yourself Munson you almost hit me" I moved my head out of his lap and sat up. "I'm sorry" I could barely understand his apology though since he had his mouth full of the same cereal he almost hit me with. I just rolled my eyes and moved the tarp off of me and got out of the boat and sat down next to Max. She looked down at my hands and immediately spotted the new ring. She leaned over " You wasn't wearing that yesterday and I know that's not yours. Did he give you a ring" she sounded like someone gossiping about some drama at the highschool. I just nodded my head since I wasn't in the mood to have an actual conversation. Give me like 10 minutes and then that might be a different story. "So did you two tell each other about your feelings" her elbow jabbing my side didn't help much with my attitude that I already had from not sleeping comfortably and then getting woken up and then almost getting hit in the face. If I didn't answer her I knew she would just keep asking "He told me how he felt and then we started talking about his rings and he asked me what my favorite one is and I told him which one and then he put it on my hand and then we went to bed. That's kinda it. Nothing spicy or super exciting" she gasped loudly to the point everyone turned and looked at us. Eddie even stopped shoveling food into his mouth to see what was going on. I turned to Max and we just busted out laughing. Dustin then spoke up. " Well we have good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first." My heart dropped as I looked over at Eddie but it's like he was too busy with the food to even realize how bad the bad news could be. "Bad news first, always." God hopefully the good news will lighten everything up. "Well we hacked into the Police data base and they are definitely looking for you Oh! and yeah they are pretty sure that you killed Chrissy." That fear that I've seen plenty of times in Eddie's eyes since last night once again returned as my stomach dropped "Like 100% convinced" as soon as Max said that somehow my stomach dropped even further "And the good news?" How could there be any good news to this story it's basically a death sentence already.  Robin chimed in " The good news is that your name hasn't been released" Thank god, I let out a sigh of relief and as soon as I did Robin continued on "But if it was this easy for us to find out then it's not going to take long for everyone else to find out and everyone and their shallow minded mothers are going to be out gunning for you" I turned to Eddie and not only was there fear in his eyes, but there was fear in mine too. There isn't an easy way of getting out of this if there is even a way to get out of this in general.  "Hunt the freak right?" You could hear the hurt in Eddie's voice "Exactly-" Robin then got cut off by Dustin "But before that happens all we have to do is find Vecna and kill him and prove that you're innocent" yeah totally let's just kill a creature that we don't even know where to find "Oh that's all Dustin? That easy?" Not only was I getting stressed but I was getting annoyed with how easy Dustin was making this sound and everyone was taken back at my tone. "Look y/n we have all been through this before, you've been through this multiple times we are going to figure it out." I know that Robin was trying to comfort me but honestly that didn't really help. Last time we lost two important people, who says that it's not going to happen this time. "So what do we have so far" I knew that Eddie wasn't going to like the answer he was about to get and neither would  I. "Well it's in the brainstorming phase"  Everyone just shook their head in agreement with max. I was about to say something but the loud noises of Police sirens stopped me "Tarp, Tarp" I yelled at Eddie as he threw the tarp over himself while laying in the boat to hide. Me and the group ran towards the window as we watch the cops drive down the road. "Let's go check it out." Robin said while opening the door, Dustin looked back at me "Y/n stay here, make sure nothing happens to Eddie." and with that they walk out the door and get into the car and drive off.
