Y/n's POV
I found myself sweating, shivering, and crying. The dream I had, I couldn't remember it clearly, I woke up with a vague memory of my dream. But I recall it was dark, cold, and lonely. My thoughts were dragged by my dream that I just realized I was back in my room.

It was dimly lit as it used to be, only the moon served as my light in this suffocating memoir of my past. I hugged myself remembering the scene from my locker. Those warnings seemed to be trying to tell me to stop worrying about Boboiboy. I grabbed a fistful of my hair and couldn't help but shed tears, I'm so frustrated and confused. I stood up from my bed feeling my throat all dried up, heading downstairs I was met with a familiar pitch-black room.

I took out my phone and used its flash as my light guide. I quickly went to the kitchen, pouring myself a glass of cold water. It was still midnight that's probably why it was still dark outside, unexpectedly, mom went downstairs as well. She switched on the lights and found me taking a sip of my cold water.

"You're up already sweetie? How are you feeling?" She went to my side and checked my composure. "I'm fine mom" I smiled at her, she patted my head lovingly and embraced my cold body. "Sweetie, I know you're getting older as time passes. But remember, your mother is always right by your side if you need me. My love for you has no end. Never forget even if you get much older, you'll always be my baby" mother's words were so warm that it almost made me feel as if I'm on cloud nine.

Does she know what I've been going through? All this time I've been keeping my secret from her, I don't know how or when will I tell her. But for now, I don't want to include her in this death stunt I'm putting myself into. "I know Mom" I hugged her back, and she stroked my hair affectionately and whispered "I love you sweetie" I couldn't help but shed tears. Oh how much I yearned to hear these words.

"I love you too mom—" my thoughts blackened, it flashed a scene of my mother dying in my arms. My eyes widened as my breath hastened, I tightly hugged her and with that I found myself embracing my mother safe and alive.

'Unless... You sacrifice something... Or someone'

What was that?! "Are you okay sweetie? You're shivering, are you cold?" I shook my head and buried my face into her shoulder. "Mom... Mom... Mommy... I don't want you to die too" I don't know why, but I just have the urge to say those words. Though it's true, I don't want my mother to die as well.

I could feel my mother's embrace tightening "I won't die, sweetie. I won't"

Author's POV
After that eventful night, Y/n found herself waiting at Tok Aba's shop. Playing with the straw of her drink, her chin rested against her palm. Tok Aba who was busy cleaning up the cups noticed how down Y/n's mood has been. Tok Aba gave her a plate of chocolate cake, and Y/n suddenly felt surprised.

"T-tok! It's okay, you don't have to give me cake" she refused to accept the cake. She thought it'll be bad for his business if he keeps insisting to let her eat for free. "It's alright Y/n, one cake won't hurt my business" he joked, pushing the plate close to her.

There's no use in refusing, she gladly accepted the cake and took one tiny taste. Her taste buds cheered by the sweet sensation of the moist chocolate cake. "See? Chocolate would uplift your mood within a second" he laughed, and Y/n smiled and thanked him.

"I've heard you've been pushing yourself too hard these days" Tok Aba started, Y/n lowered her head at what he said. "It's nothing, I was just too caught up with my thoughts lately" she reasoned, fiddling with her food. Tok Aba nodded and said "don't overwork your brain too much. How about you clear up your thoughts by helping me with the customers? Boboiboy's cousin had to return to her hometown, which leaves me alone here to do work" Y/n accepted the offer and started helping at the shop.
