I had a friend once
She was a strange creature
Her laugh made me laugh
She was their when I needed her most

She hurt me
And threw words like stones
When I cared for her
She mocked my appearance
And hated my hobbies

I longed to be like her
Toxic and emotionally numb
To have the smile that boys liked
And a face that girls envied

But most of all
I wanted her heart of stone
To avoid the pain she inflicted
And to be strong in her eyes

She left after my eyes leaked water
I remembered that day
It was yesterday

And now I'm not sure
If I'm in need of
Those creatures called
FRIENDS
