Poem: Basketball's Boyfriend

3 1 0

He ran to the hoop and to shoot his shoot
As I watched quietly
From the sidelines.
His majestic figure now rejoicing
Because he scored a goal.

The guy I like, my mvp
And most of all my boyfriend
Stood out in the sea of athletes
(my unbiased opinion, I think).

His admirers were as many as
The stars in the sky
But only one rivaled
My beauty and kind heart.

Their name is basketball.
Everyday except Friday,
In the morning, at lunch
Even after school
They occupied his thoughts.

Other girls fuss and grumble
About things like these
But I'm happy as long as his goals,
Dreams and aspirations are fulfilled.

I'm content with being second to basketball.
So when people ask
I'm only a side woman,
(A mistress if you want to call it that)
For he belongs to
Basketball.

So whether it's the NBA,
University or work
I'll accompany him
As his wife, his woman, his friend
But he'll forever be
Basketball's boyfriend.
