Poem: 2 Worlds Apart

2 1 0

We're two worlds apart,
I knew that when you bragged
And puffed out your beautiful feathers
Trying to impress me.
Sometimes I thought to myself
"what an arrogant guy" as you continued,
On and on constantly.

You didn't understand my reluctantly
To tell you of my non-existent exploits
Or speak of my family.
You expected me to be raised in the same environment
And of the same status.

It must've hurt your unusually large ego
When I said I despised your arrogance,
Prideful ways and your expectation
Of the small, poor but happy world I lived in.

Darling, it hurt me even more
Knowing that you probably had a hard time
Having feelings for someone like me.

And despite your efforts
Because of my pride it was hard for me to admit
Even love can't unite us because
Our worlds are different.
Very very different.
