Poem: Reality

Sun rays kiss my numb body
As we walked into the shade,
Under a building in a corner of the school.

Your words basically said
"Wipe the smile off your face"
But I didn't listen.

"I hope we remain good friends"
A lie you told to console my fragile heart
Already shattered by bullets
Of your past misdeeds.

We walked away wishing each other
Nothing but the best
And in two days you were with someone else.

It hurts to be reminded of it everyday
By every Tom, Dick and Harry
Who stops by to see if I'm 'ok'
After being replaced.

How can I be 'ok'?
Do you think my smile is real?
It's true, I haven't shed a tear for you
And I don't plan to.

But at the same time
Reality hits me with the fact that
We will never again be
Together
