Chapter 3: Always Apart Of Me

I slowly climbed down the fire escape hoping not to fall. When I got into the room, I picked up the board from under my bed and went to the bathroom. I hate it SO much! And nobody even understands. The fella's say they do but the really don't, there's no way that they could.

After I was done using the bathroom I waked over to the mirror to brush my hair. As I looked in the mirror I noticed that my hair is turning darker. I need to dye it soon. But as I continued to stare at myself threw the mirror I started seeing her. Sabrina. My past self. I know I'll never really be fully Albert. She will always be apart of me.

The more I thought about it the more upset I got. I started to break down. I fell to the floor arms around my legs rocking myself. You are a boy. You are a boy. You are a boy. You are a boy. I kept repeating it but it wasn't working. I must've blocked out the rest of the world because the next thing I knew is that Race and Elmer are right by my side saying, "Shh, it's okay." Or "I'se got you'se, everything's gonna be okay." While they were slowly rocking me.

After I calmed down, I knew that Race and Elmer would start asking questions. And I was right. "What happened Al?" Elmer questioned. "I..I..I saw her." I managed to get out. "Who Albie." race asked confused. "Sabrina." They still looked very confused. "I'se looked in da mirror an saw her. Sabrina is my birth name." I said ashamed. It was like a light bulb went off in Race and Elmer's heads because they both immediately hugged Albert.

"Don't worry. You'se is a boy. She's gone." "Dat's were you'se wrong Racer. She'll always be apart of me. She ain't eva really gonna leave." "But you'se will always be Albert ta us." Elmer said with a smile growing on his face. Race stood up and helped Elmer and Albert off the floor. They walked out of the bathroom just as Kloppman was coming to wake everyone up. And so it began again. Carrying The Banner.

[Race:]
Hey!
That's my cigar!

[Albert:]
You'll steal another!

[Specs:]
Hey, look! it's bath time at the zoo

[Henry:]
I thought that I'd surprise my mother

[Albert:]
If you can find her

[Newsies:]
Who asked you?!

[Race:]
From bottle alley to the harbor
There's easy pickings guaranteed

[Finch:]
Try any banker, bum, or barber
They almost all knows how to read

[Jack:]
It's a crooked game we're playin'
One we'll never lose
Long as suckers don't mind payin'
Just to get bad news

[Newsies:]
Ain't it a fine life!
Carrying the banner through it all
A mighty fine life!
Carrying the banner tough and tall
When the bell rings
We goes where we wishes
We's as free as fishes
Sure beats washing dishes
What a fine life
Carrying the banner home-free all!

[Finch:]
Hey, crutchie, what's your leg say, gonna rain?

[Crutchie:]
Uh, no rain...
Ho-ho, partly cloudy clear by evenin'

[Race:]
Ha! and the limp sells fifty papes a week, all by itself!

[Crutchie:]
I don't need the limp to sell papes
I got personality
It takes a smile that spreads like butter
The kind that turns a lady's head

[Race:]
It takes an orphan with a stutter

[Finch:]
Who's also blind

[Albert:]
And mute

[Elmer:]
And dead!

[Crutchie, Buttons, Jo-Jo:]
Summer stinks and winters freezing
When you works outdoors

[Jack, Tommy Boy, Crutchie, Buttons, Jo-Jo:]
Start out sweatin
End up sneezin'
In between it pours!

[Newsies:]
Still it's a fine life
Carrying the banner with me chums
A bunch of big shots
Tossin' out a freebie to the bums

[Finch:]
Hey! what's the hold up?
Waiting makes me antsy
I likes livin' chancey

[Newsies:]
Harlem to delancey
What a fine life!
Carrying the banner through the...

[Nuns:]
Blessed children
Though you wander lost and depraved
Jesus loves you
You shall be saved

[Race:]
Curdled

[Elmer:]
Just give me half a cup

[Nuns:]
Blessed children

[Race:]
Coffee

[Henry:]
Somethin' to wake me up

[Race:]
Concrete donuts

[Romeo:]
I gotta find an angle

[Race:]
Sprinkled with mold

[Tommy boy:]
It's gettin bad out there

[Race:]
Homemade

[Mush:]
Papers is all I got

[Nuns:]
Jesus loves you

[Specs:]
It's 88 degrees

[Race:]
Biscuits

[Jo-Jo:]
Jack says to change my spot

[Sniper:]
Wish I could catch a breeze

[Race:]
Just two

[Finch:]
Maybe it's worth a shot

[Buttons:]
All I can catch is fleas

[Race:]
Years old

[Jack:]
If I hate the headline
I'll make up a headline

[Jack and Crutchie:]
And I'll say anything I have'ta

[Jack, Crutchie, Race and Romeo:]
'Cause at two for a penny if I take too many
Weasel just makes me eat 'em afta'!

[Newsies group 1:]
Got a feelin' bout the headline!
I smells me a headline!

[Newsies group 2:]
I do too, so it must be true

[Newsies group 1:]
Papes are gonna sell like we was givin' them away!
Betcha dinner it's a doozy

[Newsies group 2:]
What a switch! soon we'll all be rich

[Newsies group 1:]
'Bout a pistol-packin' floozy
Who knows how to make a newsie's day!

[Newsies group 2:]
Don't know any better way to make a newsie's day

[Newsies:]
You wanna move the next edition
Give us an earthquake or a war!

[Elmer:]

[Newsies:]
Yeah, nitwit, that ain't news no more!

Walking 'til we fall

[Newsies group 1:]

[Newsies group 1:]

[Newsies group 1:]

[Newsies group 1:]

[Newsies group 2:]

[Newsies group 1:]

[Newsies group 2:]

[Newsies group 1:]
Carrying the banner!

[Newsies:]

Soakin' every sucker that we can!

Newsies on a mission!
Kill the competition!
Sell the next edition!
We'll be out there
Carrying the banner!
See us out there
Carrying the banner!
Always out there
Carrying the banner!
Ah, ah, ah, go!

After I got my papes JoJo and I started walking to our sellin spot. We always sold together, we always have, and always will.

I only have one pape left. I saw a man turned around. I tapped on his shoulder and asked "Like ta buy me last pape sir?" The man turned around with the evilest smirk. Jordan. One of James workers. Holy hell am I in for it now. I darted. He's running fast behind me catching up. God it's times like these were I wish I was Race. He is super duper fast. I run straight into an alley way with a dead end. I turn around to see Jordan holding a knife walking slowly towards me with the evilest smirks of smirks.

 Well this is it.

Goodbye.
