Luisa's POV

I felt bad leaving y/n like that, but I had a job to do. It was at times like this when people really needed me, and I had to be there to pull through for them. Poor Pablo for instance was sitting in his broken cart when I'd heard him calling for me. Turns out his cart had broken and his donkey had taken off on its own. He couldn't leave his belongings in the cart, but he couldn't carry it all alone either. And that's where I come in. I found his donkey and now I'm helping him get to his house w i t h all his stuff.

The rain stopped hurting a while ago; it was easier to bare it when I thought about how much tiá Pepa was probably hurting. I hadn't gotten a chance to see what she was upset about yet, the villagers needed help hurricane-proofing the town. I planned on going home as soon as I dropped Pablo off. As long as no one else asked me for help that is. I really hope no one else asks me for help...

I interrupted my own train of thought when I realized that the rain had stopped falling on me. Which was weird since it was still raining everywhere else. Looking up, I see an umbrella. I keep moving forward, but I glance back to see who was being so kind.

It was y/n. I didn't think she'd follow me.

"I'm fine! You should use it for yourself!", I tell her, half expecting her to do so.

"No you're not! This rain is hard as balls! I've got a poncho, you've got nothing!"

I could tell she was struggling to keep up with me with how much the umbrella was wobbling, yet as long as it was there- I wasn't getting wet.

I smile to myself, her determination was cute. And appreciated if I was being honest. The rain really did hurt. I guess I was just telling myself it didn't anymore.

Soon enough, we get to Pablo's house and I set him and his cart down in front of his house and then drop off his donkey in his barn. When I get back to the front, he'd already gone inside. I was a little hurt he didn't give me as much as a simple 'thank you'. I'd thought that the Encanto was changing. I'd thought they were becoming more appreciative. Evidently not.
Deep down I couldn't say I was surprised.

I let out a heavy sigh and turn around to go home, then I remembered y/n—who was still shielding my head from the rain.
She was looking out into the distance at who knows what. I followed her gaze but I didn't see anything there.

"I can take this now." I take the umbrella out of her hand and step closer to her so that we'd both be able to take cover underneath. More or less.
"You didn't have to do this, you know."

Y/n shrugs and looks up at me, she was really pretty. "I know. I'm just So Kind and Considerate like this, though.", she exclaims dramatically.

I roll my eyes, and realize that her glasses had hundreds of water droplets coating them, I wonder how she could see through them.
I use my free hand to gently pick her glasses off her face, then place the umbrella handle between my arm and my body. I quickly bring the glasses down and use the end of my shirt to wipe the lenses like I've seen Mirabel do a thousand times before. When I held it up I realized that all I'd done was move the water around and get rid of the big water droplets. I guess that would've worked better with a dry shirt...

Y/n was looking at her glasses too, I notice she was smiling at them. She gently pats my hand and takes glasses from me, swiping the rest of the water off with her finger.

"It's the thought that counts.", she giggles and I couldn't help but feel embarrassed.

I try to change the subject, "So why are you out in the rain anyways?"

She smirks at me and I feel a chill run down my spine. Whether is was because of the cold or her, I don't know.
"I was going to see your mom."

"Why? Are you hurt??"

"What? Oh! No no no! It was a joke, I was joking!"

"Oh... you think my mom's a joke?"

"No!! That's not what I meant! I'm so sorry, I was really looking for something to eat, I shouldn't've—"

I cut her off by patting her head, I couldn't help but laugh too. Seeing her so frantic was pretty funny. Usually it was me doing all the panicking. Oh how the tables have turned.

"Relax, I was joking too."

Y/n looks relieved for a second, but the next she's shooting me a playful glare. I know it's playful because she was smiling.

"Oh so you think you're funny, huh?", she asks, giving me a poke in the stomach.

"Oh no. I know I'm funny.", I rebut teasingly.

Y/N started to respond, but we both froze when a bolt of lightning nearly blinded us both.

We stared at the spot where the lightning had struck and before we could move, the deafening sound of thunder blasted through the air.
I will admit that I might've jumped a little and stepped a little closer to Y/n, but in my defense I saw her jump too.

"Awww, funny girl scared of thunder?", she cooes at me.

"Oh hush, you jumped just as high as I did. And I think we should take cover now..."

"I don't know what you're talking about, and yeah. You're right, we should. I'll see you later then. Bye."

A bit confused, I watch her quickly look around and the then sprint out from under the umbrella in the opposite direction of the casita, covering her head with her hands.

I was too stunned to move for a second, but then I did run after her.

"What're you doing?!", I yell at her and she stops to look at me. When I reach her and get her under the umbrella again she looks confused.

"What do you mean? I'm going to take cover. My place isn't too far if I run.", she explained as if it was common sense.

I stare at her in disbelief; was she actually dumb?
"I meant we should take cover at the casita. It's closer than your camp, isn't it?"

"Oh. I guess that makes sense.", she chuckled sheepishly. "Well what are you waiting for? Lead the way then."
