"We'll go on vacation." I smiled weakly. Gazing down, following the soft rain, as it fell onto the brown flower bouquet, my eyes took in the tiny crack on the stone step. A warm breeze of water touched my skin. "I brought you new flowers. They are similar to the ones I bought you a few years ago, in spring. The ones you loved." An exhale, barely audible, due to the weather conditions, left my lips. "Tulips. Daffodils. You would stuck your nose right into the heads." I giggled, meanwhile the memory of the sweetest sneezes filled my head. The sweetest laughter. The sweetest woman.

"They reminded me of you and how couldn't I have taken them with me?"

My knees bend and I shortened the leash in my left hand, whilst lowering the flowers onto the stone step. With my right, I picked the older ones up, causing tiny cracking sounds to appear, as the dry plants broke in half. I only bought those last weekend...

"They got her, you know?" I blankly spoke, not sure how to feel. "Rita."

They got Rita and she had gotten her before that. Life was mysterious in that way.

I rose my gaze, wanting to rather look at her, than to see the numb stone laid out in front of my feet.

Pink, purple, along with blue fade into each other on the bottom of the skyline.

"You look breathtaking."

For a moment longer, I eyed the sight. I looked at her. Only her. Before a wet tongue licked along my cheek, catching my attention.

"Yeah, she is beautiful today. You are absolutely right, Angel."

The dog barked in reply.

"Yep, you'll travel with us. That's right." I stroke along the soft golden fur, feeling the need to talk to the bundle of fluff.

My legs straightened and whilst I stepped back from her grave, the sun was almost gone.

"We'll go and see the ocean, my love." I whispered. My fingers embracing the moon pendant on the necklace on my collarbone. "My love." I sighed, water gathering within my eyes.

There was no one chuckling anymore, when I talked about my passion. Not the way she did.

I let go of the pendant. I had to.

It was time to say goodbye.

For the last time. A last goodbye. I promised myself.

A 'goodbye', in hopes for a 'hello, you' in the future... though as it had to be, my pleads would be left unanswered. Turned towards the exit of the graveyard, leash in hand and ready to leave for good, I caught something in my view. Someone. A bunch of short raven waves and those eyes. A face unforgettable.

She strutted closer, at a slow pace. I was stuck in place. This was a fever dream. My skin ran hot, at the idea of dreaming of Vee. Yet, I knew if I woke up it'd leave me miserable for the following day. So I used my thumb and pointer and pinched my arm. Nothing. She walked closer. Why was her hair short? I did not remember her like that. And the clothes?

I wanted to approach, run away and stay put all at once. So I just kind of wiggled on the spot, until the woman was close enough for me to touch her.

Tears filled those eyes and instinctively I reached for the soft cheeks ahead. "This can't be." My voice cracked.

"I'm so sorry, Cate." Vee whispered, her voice leaving every hair on my body rising. She cried and I couldn't put into words what was going on.

"You're dead." I stuttered, sight growing blurry. "I hold you as you died."

"I know." She sniffed and I saw her leaning in. "You wear my necklace."

I wanted to push the woman away. I didn't know her. Yet I did know her. The warmth of Veronica's body pressed into me. The curve of her stomach bumping into my middle. It was her. And my arms tightened around my fiancé, breathing in the faint smell I had thought was lost forever.

"Oh god, it's you." I whispered, the tears falling heavy on her shoulder. My embrace wanted to not ever let go of the woman.

"Careful," She hissed and only ever tried to lean into me with her side, protecting her belly. My hand lowered, feeling a kick on my palm with an instant. "They've missed you too." The twins.

"Angel, you almost killed me." I sobbed and just hold Vee. "I thought, I wouldn't make it." Hand pulling her head into my chest, I whimpered.

"I almost didn't." She sniffed and cleared her voice. The dog by my side touched my knee, with its paw. My fiancé's head turned downward too.

"And who is this?" Her fingertips slid along the dog's head.

"Angel." I whispered, kissing her temple. "Oh, my angel." My nose was buried in her neck, inhaling nothing but her scent.

It was her. It would always be her. My angel.
