Marcy woke up in what looked to be a completely different city. The buildings were small compared to the skyscrapers back home. There was even some kind of monument in the distance. Marcy had the widest smile when she finally understood what happened. She got up and was eager to explore the city. Unfortunately, fate had other plans for her.

Marcy was admiring the scenery when she suddenly lost her footing. She fell down a flight of stairs. It was a very long fall and she hit the ground face first.

Then she heard armored footsteps approaching. Marcy used whatever strength she could muster to turn herself over. There was some kind of armored slim humanoid creature with a long green tail standing over her. It looked like some kind of guard. Then to her surprise, it spoke. "Are you okay?"

Marcy got up in excitement. "Oh my gosh you can understand me! Thank goodness! I wasn't sure if there was going to be a language barrier! This is so exciting!" Then she collapsed again, her left ankle had been twisted during the fall and she couldn't walk.

The guard was taken aback by her cheerful tone. Then he regained his composure. "Do you need help?"

"Uh yeah, I broke my leg." Marcy replied trying to fight through the pain.

"Alright, I'll get you to a hospital." The guard grabbed Marcy by the shoulder and walked with her down the street.

"But I don't have any money!" Marcy said, leaning on the guard like a crutch.

"Don't worry. The city will pay for it."

"Oh. Well... thank you. So... you got a name?"

"I am Colonel Kerry. Newtopian military police."

"Well, I am Marcy Wu! It's nice to meet you. Colonel Kerry."

"Just Kerry is fine. So, what are you? I've never seen a creature like you before."

"I'm a human from another world."

"A human? Hmm... never heard of anything like you." The duo approached a large building. Although it didn't have a recognizable symbol. Marcy could guess this was the hospital Kerry mentioned. He helped Marcy get through to the hospital's front desk. Luckily, the area was empty save for the hospital staff. "This human is injured. Do you have a spare bed for her?"

The nurse led Kerry and Marcy to a small hospital room where Kerry placed Marcy down. "I'll be back in a bit. I need to report this to the palace." Kerry said to the nurse.

"Alright, the doctor will be over in a bit. Just stay there." The nurse said before leaving as well.

Marcy admired her surroundings. This felt like the beginning of an amazing adventure. However, as the hours ticked by Marcy started to get impatient. Some adventure, laying in a hospital bed for who knows how long. Then again, she hasn't exactly gone through the tutorial yet. It would've been a lot better if her friends were here as well. Hopefully they're having fun.

The door swung open again. This time three people walked in. Marcy was already familiar with Kerry, but he was with two other newts she hadn't been acquainted with. One was wearing what looked to be a doctor's uniform and the other had a large dress that went to the floor. She was obviously from the upper class in Newtopia. The doctor walked up to Marcy and started examining her injuries.

The newt wearing a dress spoke first. "Greetings, I am lady Olivia. You are the creature called Marcy am I correct?"

"Yep, that's me! Marcy Wu!" Marcy replied enthusiastically.

The doctor finished her examinations. "Unfortunately, I don't know how I'm going to treat these wounds. I've never seen anything like you before. Maybe you should try a vet?"

Marcy frowned. "I'll be fine. I just need a cast for my leg." Although Marcy had studied human biology quite extensively and even studied medicine. She wasn't really a doctor and wasn't entirely sure if that was the best course of action.

The doctor looked unsure about that. Lady Olivia and Kerry were silently observing. Then Kerry spoke up for Marcy. "She probably knows more about humans than the rest of us combined. Maybe we should just get the cast on her."

"Alright hold still." the doctor began setting up the cast.

While the doctor was working on the cast. Lady Olivia decided to continue her interview. "So, you are from another world. How exactly did you get here?"

"Oh, it was through a magical music box." Marcy answered.

Lady Olivia simply gave her a confused expression. That was when the doctor finished setting up Marcy's cast. "You'll have to stay here for a bit where we can monitor you. After a few days we'll see if you're ready to leave." the doctor said.

"That's fine. Oh, while I'm here. I'm wondering where my friends are. We all came here together but I haven't seen them."

"What did they look like?" Lady Olivia asked.

"They're humans just like me. Here's a photo of them." Marcy held a polaroid of herself and her friends Anne, Sasha and Drake.

Kerry stared at the picture for a few seconds. "Alright. If they're in the city, they shouldn't be too hard to find. You mind if I take that picture for a bit?"

"Oh yeah sure. Just bring it back as soon as possible." Marcy handed Kerry the picture.

"I'll be back tomorrow to check up on you. For now, I need to inform the king about this." Lady Olivia declared.

Marcy was left alone with her thoughts again. This wasn't exactly how she imagined her adventure starting. Well, it'll be a lot more fun with her friends by her side. Hopefully she'll find them soon.

Author's Note

________________________________________________________________________________

Here we got to see Marcy's first day in Newtopia. Hopefully I didn't butcher medical practices too badly. I'm not a doctor and I barely understand medicine.

I always wondered why Marcy didn't put more effort into finding her friends. It felt more in character for her to do whatever it took to have them join her in the adventure.

I plan to have some chapters dedicated to Marcy. It will affect the others as the story progresses. If you have any objections or questions, feel free to post them.
