Chapter 58: The Fourth Temple

"We're almost there Joe Sparrow, just a little more." Marcy said.

Joe Sparrow was struggling to fly with so much weight. Luckily, he stayed in the air just long enough to make it to the destination. He collapsed as soon as he landed.

"You did it Joe!" Marcy exclaimed.

Sasha held the pink gem, revealing the glowing pink beam that showed the path to the last temple. The beam stopped at the entrance of a tunnel that led underground. "So this is it."

"It's a lot smaller than I thought." Anne said, helping Sasha put the gem back into the music box.

"It's modest. I like it." Drake commented, being the first to climb down.

The gem stopped glowing and some runes appeared on the entrance to the underground tunnel.

"What's it say Marcy?" Sprig asked in anticipation.

Marcy looked down at her notes and translated.

Your goal is within the temple's foundation

Navigate the temple safely to reach your destination

"That sounds pretty straightforward." Sasha said.

"We should be careful. These temples always have a catch to them." Anne reminded everyone.

Hop Pop turned to Frobo. "Wait for us here. We'll be back for you."

The group walked down the stairs, eventually stopping in a large chamber. The chamber itself was empty. The ceiling was high up, if someone were to fall from there, the impact would be painful but probably not fatal. The walls were made up of large stone tiles. Everyone started to spread out and investigate the room.

Then more runes appeared on a nearby wall which Marcy quickly translated.

The door out of here is locked and forbidden

In order to proceed, you must find the path that is hidden

"A hidden path?" Drake wondered as he started looking around.

Suddenly, in the middle of the room, a part of the ceiling retreated. Then a long chain going all the way to the floor was hanging in its place.

"So I guess we need to climb it?" Hop Pop guessed.

"Stay back guys! I got this!" Sasha ordered, grabbing the chain. She started climbing up, making it about a quarter of the way to the top. Then suddenly, one of the tiles surged forward, revealing a stone block behind it. The stone block slammed into Sasha like a battering ram. The impact knocked the wind out of her, causing her to let go and fall all the way back to the ground.

"Sasha!" Grime called out. He charged forward, trying to get to her but another block slammed into him, sending him flying to the other end of the room.

"Guys! We need to be careful!" Drake called out. Suddenly, he felt a rush of air from his side. He stepped forward, barely avoiding one of the blocks. That was when he began to notice something.

Meanwhile, the Plantars were getting knocked back and forth by the blocks. "Really not liking this challenge." Sprig coughed.

"I got you!" Marcy called out, carrying a healing potion. Suddenly, a block slammed into her from behind, knocking her to the floor. She coughed, trying to catch her breath but another block slammed into her from the side, sending her flying across the room.

Anne frantically tried to climb up the chain. She made it partway through when a block surged out of the wall and knocked her back down. She was momentarily stunned.
