First Day (Part 1)

Luna P.O.V

I felt the dazzling light coming through my see-through curtains. There was chirping coming from outside. I let out a groan as I rolled over on my side. As I did this, I felt an awful pain in my back. "Ah damn" I said as I put an arm behind my back trying to make it hurt less. I probably slept in a wrong position again I thought to myself as I tried to sit up. My eyes were completely dry and puffy. Did I cry in my sleep? I asked myself. I was feeling really groggy this morning. "Damn. I can't even get a good night's sleep the day before school" I said out loud to myself. "School" I said under my breath. The thought of school made me smile. With one swing I swung my legs over to the left side of the bed. I stood up from the bed. I staggered a bit to the right as I was overwhelmed by a feeling of dizziness "Geez". I closed my eyes again. After some time, I opened them again and walked into the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and saw how puffy and red my eyes were. My hair was a complete mess, and my cheeks were flushed. "Damn" I said to myself "I better get working on this mess". I laughed at myself. I started doing my normal morning routine. I took a shower, brushed my hair and my teeth, did my morning skincare routine, and finished everything off with some makeup. I went out of the bathroom feeling so much better already. Now, where did Maya put "the perfect outfit" I asked myself as I was looking through my closet. My search was interrupted by a knock on my bedroom door. "Good morning" an excited voice said. I looked towards my door and there I saw Maya. She had about six different outfits in her arms. "Ready for our first day of school?" she asked as she made her way towards my bed. She laid out all the outfits she had brought. "I thought we already found my outfit yesterday" I asked looking confusedly at her. "Uhm well. I just got so many ideas right before I went to bed yesterday, and I could not just pass them up" she said as she was fixing the outfits. "Is there one you like?" she asked sitting down beside all the outfits. I took a look at all the different outfits. It was both a blessing and a curse that Maya was so into fashion. She was the most fashionable out of the three of us. She loved matching styles to people's personalities. She also really loved experimenting with fashion. Like mixing different patterns and colours that normally would not go well together. Three of the six outfits were definitely some of her experiments. I was stuck between two outfits. The first outfit was very bright, while the other outfit was only black and white. Maya could probably tell that I was struggling. "How about you try them on and see which one you like the most?" she said as she handed me the first outfit. I nodded with a small smile on my face. "Great!" she exclaimed "I'm sure you can pick out the outfit once you've tried them both. I'll go and get ready as well now". She was already out of the room before I could thank her.

I finally made my way down the stairs. I had chosen the outfit with a black denim skirt and a black top with a short white shirt over it. "I'm so excited to see our new classmates and schoolmates!" Maya exclaimed. I turned the corner to the kitchen where Maya was sitting on one of the stools eating her breakfast rather excitedly. Savannah already looked so done. She was standing behind the counter slowly sipping her morning coffee. "I still don't understand why you are so eager to go to school" Savannah said as she closed her eyes momentarily. "I'm sure it's going to be alright" I said as I opened the fridge looking for the milk. Savannah's eyes shot open. She looked at Maya, then at me, and then back at Maya. Maya smiled wearily at Savannah. "Sooo how are you feeling?" Savannah asked me. "Oh, I'm fine" I said as I poured some milk into a glass. "Oh, that's good... How did you sleep then?" Savannah asked me. Maya and Savannah were both watching me closely. I looked up from my glass and looked rather confusedly at both of them. "Fine, thanks" I said as I narrowed my eyebrows "Why do I feel like I'm being interrogated". Savannah and Maya quickly looked at each other, waiting for one of them to answer. "Well.." Maya starts out "We just heard a lot of noises coming from your room last night, so we went to check up on you. We think you had a nightmare again". "Oh" I said as I looked at my glass of milk "That probably explains the pain in my back and why my eyes were so puffy this morning". Maya looked at me with an unsure smile. Savannah looked really worried but I didn't want to push this conversation any further. I gulped down my glass of milk in one go. "Well then" I said as I put my glass in the sink "We should probably head off to school". Maya quickly finished off her meal and grabbed her backpack. "Yes finally!" she said with the biggest smile on her face. Savannah followed suit and we all left our home.
