Quick as the Wind

3rd P.O.V

The weekend approached and all of them finally found time to properly prepare for the fight to come. "Okay everybody gather" Maya had called everyone out into the backyard. "Maya, what is this?" Savannah pointed at all the weapons laying on the ground "This is our training grounds". Taehyun scoffed. "You think this is funny?" Maya gave him a sarcastic smile. He crossed his arms "I do actually. What could you possibly be teaching us that would make a difference on the battlefield?" Maya let out a small laugh of disbelief "Trust me I can teach you plenty of things". She stepped on the edge of a big stick, making it swing up into her hand. "First, I need you all to take this seriously. I know there are a lot of misconceptions about witches and their abilities to fight in war or closeup combat" she walked towards the others, holding the stick firmly in her hand "But I am here today to do one better on those falsely rumours". She looked Taehyun in the eyes "I have a theory. I bet that I could dual you by only using self-defence techniques and not get a single scratch". Taehyun raised an eyebrow in amusement. "Don't believe me? Wanna test my theory?" she said in a teasing manner, walking backwards beckoning Taehyun to step forward. Taehyun let out a short laugh "You're on".

The two stood face-to-face watching each other. The others watched them closely. "She's crazy right?" Savannah asked Luna in a low voice "Yep. She has finally lost it". Their attention soon turned to Taehyun and Maya again as they finally sprung into action. Taehyun leapt forward towards Maya. She dropped the stick beside her as she made her stance more stable. Everyone expected Taehyun to absolutely crash Maya to the ground but to everyone's surprise, Maya stood firmly and steadily with Taehyun laying on the ground behind her. The others gasped and let out exclamations "Damn". Taehyun didn't spare anytime grabbing and swiping Maya's feet away underneath her. She landed on her stomach, already getting ready to get up again. Taehyun quickly sat on top of her to stop her from getting back up. She somehow managed to turn around, now facing him. Taehyun grabbed her wrist. "Not so cocky now" he smirked as his eyes flashed yellow. "You wish" with a quick move she got her feet and leg through his arms, placing her knees on his shoulders, bringing him down on the ground. Being on top Maya grabbed his right arm twisting it, making him face downwards and placing her foot on the back of his head "Checkmate".

She let go of him. He rolled on his back. She held out a hand to him. With a little hesitation, Taehyun grabbed her hand. She pulled him. "Fuck Maya! That was fucking awesome" the others came running over. "Just warm up really" she had a proud smile on her face. "When did you learn to do that" Savannah hit Maya's arm playfully. Maya's face fell "I've been training ever since our house was invaded". Everyone kept quiet. Maya shook her head and put on another smile "I wanna be able to kick the hunters' asses next time".

"I mean at this point you could probably kick all of our asses " Kai said in a joking manner "Wait actually". Taehyun had a playful smirk on his face "How about we put Kai's theory to the test?". Maya bit the inside of her cheek. "C'mon, don't wanna test the theory?" he walked back out onto the training ground again. She looked at the others. "Nah I ain't doing that" Luna took a step back. "Let's leave it to the professionals" Savannah stepped back with Luna. The guys looked at each other. "If you're up to it" Soobin said as he made eye contact with Maya. "Bring it on" she confidently walked in Taehyun's direction.

Yeonjun grabbed the big stick from earlier. He threw it to Maya "Catch". She smoothly caught it. "This time we fight. No half-hearted shit" Yeonjun put his hands in his pockets, unbothered. The guys surrounded Maya. Her grip tightened around the stick. A wind picked up around all of them. No one dared to move a muscle. After a deep inhale Soobin let out a roar. The others' abilities and senses picked up and within seconds their attacks started.
