BRINGGGGGGGGGG

Brynne groaned.

BRINGGGGGGGGG

"Shut up!"

BRINGGGGGGGGGGGG

"Fine, fine, yeesh."

Brynne threw the blanket off her and rolled her neck, tired from being stretched across the sofa for the past 15 minutes watching The Great British Bake-Off

"Hello?"

"Brynne, it's Jeff."

"Oh, Jeff The Bodyguard. What's up?"

"There are these two kids wanting to see you. A guy and some kid eating Swedish Fish and Oreos. You want me to bring 'em up?"

"Oh yeah, sure."

"'Kay, be there in a few, kid."

A few minutes later, there was a knock on Brynne's door.

"So, I thought what you meant when you said you got a new house was that you got a new house, not an apartment," Aiden questioned.

"Thanks, Jeff," I nodded at Jeff, whose potbelly full of beer was really starting to stick out of the suit. He scratched his beard and nodded back.

"Where's Aru?"

"She stopped at the vending machine because-"

"THERE WERE LIMITED EDITION GOLDFISH. WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO?!" Aru burst into the scene, gripping onto a small packet of goldfish, "Look at them! They're Mandolarian style. There's even a tiny little Stormtroopers." She squealed, pointing them out.

"Aru, you can get those at the store," Brynne deadpanned while furrowing her eyebrows.

"Home Depot doesn't sell Goldfish, Brynne."

"I mean the grocery store!"

Aru scoffed, "Bold of you to assume I go to the grocery store."

"She's right. I do most of the grocery shopping." Aiden remarked.

"Right. Anyway, come in!" Brynne sidestepped, letting Aiden and Aru walk in.

"About the home thing-"

"Home is wherever you can make food in comfort Aiden. Shut the front door."

"Excuse me?"

"I mean, shut the front door." Brynne enunciated, pointing at the door.

"Oh," Aiden proceeded to shut the front door, and he brought his backpack over to the table, "Anyway, I brought some of the food from Italy, so we could try it out."

"Oh, sweet."

Aru came over, holding up her phone, "Hey Brynne, why were you on Hira's new video?"

---

"Wait so, I don't understand. You were framed at the restaurant and Hira saved your job, while also recording it and slightly embarrassing you on the Internet of all places?"

"I don't understand how you found that video," Brynne growled, watching the scene of her getting humiliated again. She knew this would happen, but not this bad.

"First off: I'm subscribed and I hit the notification bell. Second: I know Hira personally."

"Oh yeah, she's related to Rudy and Mini, isn't she?"

Aiden groaned, "When we went to Rudy and Mini's wedding we met Hira there."

"I didn't see her. I was there!" Brynne exclaimed.

"That's because you were busy insulting the chef for screwing up the biriyani." Aru deadpanned.

"It really was bad. Dryest I've ever tasted in my entire life. But still doesn't explain the fact. Wouldn't have Rudy or Mini known?"

"Brynne. You were wearing a face mask, got a haircut, and was wearing a hairnet. How were they supposed to know? It's not like they looked you in the eye. Did they?" Aru retorted, taking a bit of lasagna.

Brynne sighed, batting away Aru's spoon which was coming for with a spoonful of lasagna, "No, but wouldn't they have thought it would be nice."

"Here, how about, we call Rudy up right now, blackmail him with the Gangnam Style video, and make him take down the video," Aru recommended, eating the spoon of lasagna herself.

"Or maybe we could just ask him like normal people," Aiden said.

"No, we can blackmail him with that double chin photo," Brynne jumped and grabbed her phone.

"Or maybe we could-"

"No, no, no, the one from the time he slipped on a banana." Aru cut Aiden off and he sighed.

"No, no, no, no-"

"ASK HIM LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE!" Aiden interrupted the cackling from Brynne and Aru, pulling up Rudy's contact.

"Ah, that's no fun. Let's just ask Mini." Aru groaned, batting Aiden's phone out of the way and bringing Mini's contact.

It rung.

And rung.

And rung.

"She's not gonna pick up."

"Nope."

Aru ended the call, the moment a person spoke, "WAIT NO! DANG IT!"

"SHE JUST PICKED IT UP! CALL HER BACK!" Brynne fumbled for the phone at the same time Aru did, colliding together.

"Oh she's calling, just pick it up!" Aiden sighed.

"Trying!" The two called out at the same time, fighting for the green button.

"OK, that's it," Aiden reached over them and pressed the button, ending the struggle of all parties.

"Hi, this is Mini, how can I help you?"

"Mini! Heey! It's me, Aru!" Aru grabbed the phone and held it up to her mouth while Brynne and Aiden crowded around her.

"Oh hi! Are you back from Italy yet?"

"Yeah! We're actually at Brynne's house!"

"Oh my gosh, how is Brynne? I think she got a new phone number 'cuz the old one doesn't work anymore."

"Oh yeah. She dropped in a pool and stuffed in rice but it didn't work so she got a new number."

"I bet she had a fit."

"You bet she did. Anyway, so we wanted to talk to Hira."

A pause, "Oh she's not here. She's in California."

"I'm sorry what?"

"Hira's in California."
