"Where is she?" Hannah Carson asked for what felt like the millionth time as she sat with her friends Jade and Stephanie at lunch.

Stephanie rolled her eyes and threw her hands up in the air in exasperation. "Hannah, we know as much as you do, which means we don't know!"

Hannah took a deep breath. She couldn't shake this terrible, nagging feeling that something was wrong with their friend. "I'm sorry, but after the ghost incident. . .I don't know, I just can't shake this feeling that something's wrong."

"Maybe she got sick and hasn't been able to text us about it," Stephanie suggested. She shrugged. "I wouldn't worry about it, okay? She'll let us know where she is soon."

Jade was quiet, doodling something in her notebook. She'd been quiet all morning and Hannah noticed how everyone kept staring at the three of them. She knew it was about the fight and knew Jade felt guilty about them fighting Ashely but she would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

"Are you okay?" asked Hannah.

Jade just nodded and didn't look up from her notebook. Hannah knew something was wrong with her friend but knew this wasn't the place to talk about it.

Hannah let it go and turned back to Stephanie. They changed the subject and talked about their upcoming quizzes until there were only ten minutes of lunch left.

"I have to go to the bathroom," she said and stood up. "I'll be right back."

She went to the women's restroom. She went to the restroom then came out and washed her hands. As she stood in front of the sink, she gazed at herself in the mirror and fixed her dirty blonde hair that had gotten tangled.

She was about to turn away but something caught her eye. She looked back and gasped when she saw Kendall's image in the mirror beside hers.

"Ken, what are you doing here? What -?" She broke off when she saw that Kendall's image was almost transparent and grayish. Hannah felt her stomach sink as she stared at Kendall's image in the mirror.

She had no idea what this meant or why she was seeing Kendall's image like this, but she knew after being tormented by ghosts last year that anything could happen and it always meant something.

Fear surged through her as a terrible thought struck her. Holy shit, she thought to herself. Was Kendall. . .? She couldn't even finish the thought.

"Kendall -" Kendall's image disappeared abruptly as it appeared. She stood there for a moment, trying to see if Kendall's image would reappear but it didn't.

The bell rang and she ran out to try to find Jade and Stephanie but they'd already left the cafeteria. She cursed as she ran to her next class. Fortunately, they were already there and she nearly knocked another girl out of her way to rush to her seat.

"Guys you won't believe it," she said to them. "In the bathroom, I saw Kendall."

"Saw Kendall?" Stephanie asked in confusion. "Did she end up coming to school or something?"

"No, she appeared in the mirror." Hannah winced when she realized how crazy that sounded.

Jade raised an eyebrow. "She appeared in a mirror?"

"I know it sounds crazy, but she did. I looked up and there she was. She was just standing there like a -"

The warning bell rang.

Jade's face paled. "Like a ghost?"

"I-I think so. I don't know. I have this feeling that something bad's happened and we need to check on her."

"How? We're still at school and she hasn't been answering our texts -"

The final bell rang and their teacher, Mr. Sanders, walked in and closed the door behind him.

"Alright class, quiet down and clear your desks. We're about to begin our quiz. Remember, phones off and absolutely no talking."

Hannah fumed as she reluctantly turned off her phone and cleared her desk along with everyone else. The last thing she should have to be doing was taking a stupid quiz when she should be checking on her friend.

Unfortunately, she had no way of getting out of here and had to sit through the next three classes. She could tell Stephanie and Jade felt the same way from the way they were fidgeting in their seats. They couldn't speak due to having to hustle to their next class and taking their quizzes.

When the final bell of the day finally rang Hannah, Stephanie, and Jade ran out the front doors.

"What should we do?" asked Stephanie as they walked through the parking lot. "Do you really think Kendall's in trouble?"

"Yeah, I do. I think we need to go over there and see if she's okay. I don't think I would've seen that if something wasn't wrong."

"Aren't you grounded though?"

"It doesn't matter."

They ran to Kendall's house. By the time they got there, they were all out of breath, panting heavily and their legs felt like jelly but they still jogged up to the front door and pounded on the door. No answer. Hannah pounded on the door again but there was still no answer.

"Their cars aren't here," Jade pointed out and Hannah belatedly realize that Kendall's and Mr. and Mrs. Warnell's cars were missing from the driveway.

"Crap," Hannah groaned. "I don't know what to do now."
