Kendall arrived at Hannah's house, the closest place she could get to. She was completely out of breath by the time she approached the front door and pounded rapidly.

Fear and panic were coursing through her and she had no idea what to do. She was trying to process the fact that she was a shapeshifter - a freaking shapeshifter. She was still wondering if she was in some weird dream and prayed she would just wake up already.

There was no way she was a shapeshifter. No way. It was too much to know that ghosts, demons, ghost possessions, sorceresses, shapeshifters, and everything else existed, but the fact that she was one? That's where she drew the line. She refused to accept it. She was a human, a regular teenage girl who was plus-sized, a little rude, and on the wild side, who went to RCHS, was going to graduate next year, go to Raven City University to become a nurse - being a shapeshifter didn't factor in her life.

She had no idea what plans that Sarafina woman had for her, but whatever they were, it wasn't going to happen. Not by a long shot. Kendall was through with fate or the universe or whatever the hell it was that kept throwing these things at her. She was going to go by her own rules now. She was going to listen to herself and herself only. She was -

The door swung open and Kendall nearly fell forward. Hannah stared at her wide-eyed. "Ken? Are you okay?"

"No," Kendall panted and stumbled inside. "Some crazy shit just happened."

"Okay, okay, but keep your voice down," Hannah warned and quietly closed the door. "My dad's sleeping and I need to be able to hear him if he needs anything. My mom's at work and he's not feeling good today."

"Sorry," Kendall said distractedly. "But some crazy shit happened to me. Even crazier than the shit we've already been through."

"Like what?"

Kendall let out a strained laugh and sat down on Hannah's couch. "Like I'm now a shapeshifter."

Hannah blinked. "Come again?"

Kendall spread her arms out. "Your girl is officially a shapeshifter now."

Hannah stared at her blankly for a long moment before bursting out laughing. Kendall waited until she was done. Hannah realized Kendall wasn't laughing with her after several minutes and stopped immediately.

"Are you serious?" Hannah asked incredulously. Kendall nodded somberly. Hannah's eyes widened. "You are serious."

"As a heart attack."

"How?....What?....When?...."

Kendall told her about the explanation Kameron gave her. Hannah slowly sat down in the chair across from her, staring at her with saucer eyes, trying to make sense of what she was hearing.

When Kendall was done, Hannah just stared at her, at a loss for words. Kendall stared back, knowing how crazy it sounded, still trying to make sense of it.

Hannah burst out laughing again. "This is insane. Insane!"

"I know."

"So you're a shapeshifter now? For real?"

"I'm really hoping this is just a sick prank, but I don't think it is. I think they were telling me the truth."

"Like, have you shifted or something?" Hannah still sounded like she couldn't believe what she was saying but was also intrigued.

"Yeah, last night. Into an eagle."

"Seriously?"

"I thought it was a weird dream, but it was real. My dream was real and I really was an eagle."

"I can't even -"

The sound of cars pulling into her driveway cut Hannah off. They rushed to the window and saw that two cars had parked in the driveway. Kendall's heart sank when she saw Sarafina step out of one of the cars.
