"what do you mean i need braces?" taehyung grumbled, frustrated at the sudden news. never had he been told that, but now at the age of 23, he was being told that he needed braces.

"we brought up the possibility a couple years ago, but i think it's more than worth it now as it can cause more problems when you get older" the woman said, she talked about the benefits of it and taehyung just sighed at what she said. he was handed a small business card for a highly rated orthodontist nearby and he left.

despite the fact he was mad and frustrated, a smile formed on his face when he saw yoongi stimming in the living room. the boy had lined up all his frogs in order of size on the couch.

"hey baby" taehyung smiled, yoongi pulled him in for a tight hug, "taetae! how was it?" yoongi asked, he had the cutest smile on display, "it was alright"

yoongi hummed, "no cavities?" he asked, taehyung shook his head. one day he would just appear with braces, he almost gagged at the thought of having those atrocious pieces of metal on his teeth. yoongi pulled them off but he definitely couldn't!

"i see you lined up your frogs" taehyung smiled, yoongi stimmed, talking about types of frogs and their characteristics.

taehyung tried to adjust his mouth to the sudden bulkiness in his mouth and the pressure on his teeth. his butt hurt too from sitting on the chair for so long.

"i'll see you in 6 weeks, alright?" the man said, "for what?" taehyung asked, raising a brow, "you have to get them adjusted every month"

taehyung resisted the urge to scream and nodded. he made an appointment for 6 weeks from now and left to go home.

"hi taehyung" yoongi said, waving at the boy, taehyung took off his shoes and waved back, "where did you go? i thought you were at school but you don't have school today" he said, taehyung hummed and sat next to the boy, placing his head on the boy's shoulder.

"why are you acting different?" yoongi carefully asked, taehyung showed a rectangle smile, revealing the purple on his teeth. the small boy's eyes widened, "you got braces?"

taehyung nodded, "dentist told me to" he said, "feels really weird and i look awful too" he added, "no you don't! you look amazing! smile, taehyungie!" yoongi said, the last part rolled off his tongue, it was probably a new stim now.

taehyung awkwardly smiled, which made yoongi beyond happy.

"smile!" yoongi stimmed as he cooked, taehyung perked his head because yoongi wasn't even looking at him, he looked back at his phone, "smile! smile!"

taehyung felt his teeth ache just hearing that, he whimpered and rubbed his jaw, "you're making something soft right?" taehyung asked, yoongi nodded, "mhm, soup with soft potatoes" he said, the taller boy nodded, "smile!"

"is that a new stim?" taehyung asked, attempting to run his tongue over his teeth, "yes! it just rolls so well off my tongue!"

taehyung smiled a bit, "cutie" he said, yoongi hummed and continued cooking.
