CHAPTER NINE

Third Person POV

Inalalayan ni Nimus at Mores nang bumagsak si Desto sa sahig at inilipat nila ito sa sofa. Nung tumayo si Mores ay agad itong humarap sa window wall at inilahad ang kanyang kamay upang ito ay ayusin.

Unti-unting nagsibalikan ang mga basag na parte ng salamin at muli itong nabuo. "Now, this human will no longer remember anything about this incident," aniya at kanyang pinagpag ang kamay.

"As I told you, Mores... we should have just entered the door..."

"Well, it's a little bit too late to regret now, Nimus."

Napabuntong-hininga na lamang si Nimus sa naging sagot ni Mores. Pinagmasdan nila ang binatang ngayo'y nakahiga sa sofa—walang malay. "He will not remember anything after he wakes up, so no need to worry now, Nimus."

"What brings you here, Mores? Nimus?"

Napalingon ang dalawa kay Vante. "After receiving a report that you went here on Earth, we immediately followed you, Lord Vante," paliwanag ni Mores.

"That's right, Lord Vante. We want to accompany you on your journey here and the Majesty allowed us to do so," ani naman ni Nimus.

Napabuntong-hininga si Vante. "As I told you... no need to address me 'lord'... it's not making me comfortable..."

"Anyway, it will not work on that kid."

"What do you mean?" nagtatakang tanong ni Mores.

Tumingin si Vante kay Desto, "The mind manipulation... I've tried it multiple times but it's not working on him."

"That's not possible!" gulat na bulalas ni Nimus. "This method is working perfectly on humans, as it is created for us to be able to hide our existence..."

"Well, he's the evidence that it's not working as it should be..."

Pinagmasdan pa nilang muli si Desto. "Well, we just have to wait until he wakes up... then you'll know," ani Vante.

"Well... it is indeed working on humans... except on him," dagdag pa ni Vante.

"If that's the case, then why is it not working on him?" tanong ni Mores.

"Maybe because it's been centuries since the last time we went here and there are changes on humans that we are not aware of?" tanong ni Nimus sa pagbabaka-sakaling mahanap ang sagot sa kanilang katanungan.

"Well, you may be right on that one, Nimus. Although he seems like a normal human being to me..." ani Mores.

"Can't you feel it?" napalingon ang dalawa sa tanong ni Vante. "There's a weird aura around him that seems to be protecting him from outside forces or powers..."

Napa-iling ang dalawa. "I've been observing that kid for days now and there's nothing odd in the way he lives... that's why I thought of just confronting him about it but..." tinignan niya ang dalawa, "... you've arrived unexpectedly."

Nakonsensya ang dalawa sa narinig. "Pardon us for interfering..."

"Well, that's fine. I can do that later on."

Pinagmasdan ni Vante ang tanawin sa labas ng apartment ni Desto. "It seems like he's not aware about the aura around him... so I'm speculating that someone must have put it on him or something..."

Muling napatingin ang dalawa kay Desto, pinipilit nilang makita ang aura na tinutukoy ni Vante ngunit naging bigo sila. "Maybe, you're mistaken about the aura that you felt?" ani Mores.
