Chapter 13: Birthday Party

Chapter 13

"Magsitayo po tayong lahat."

Nag-umpisa ng kumanta ang choir at sinabayan namin iyon ngunit ramdam ko pa rin ang mabilis na tibok ng aking puso. Why would he say that? I looked at the man standing beside me and he was just staring at nowhere with no expression visible on his face.

"Why?" he asked when he noticed that I was staring at him.

"Hindi ka nasunog."

"Shush."

Natapos na ang misa pero magpahanggang ngayon nga ay hindi pa rin tuluyang nagsi-sink in sa akin na nandito siya at kasama namin.

"Saan tayo kakain?" tanong ni Jade.

Palabas na kami ng simbahan ngayon. Hawak ko sa kamay si Hope dahil baka mawala. Ang dami pa namang tao.

"Ate, Jabee."

"Ang bata ang masusunod kaya roon tayo."

Wala namang tumutol kaya pumunta na kami sa Jollibee na malapit lang dito. Jade and Kaezar have their own car so we decided na magkita-kita na lang doon. I asked their orders pagdating namin at ako na rin ang nagpunta sa counter dahil bukod sa nasa akin ang pera, hindi ko rin maaasahan itong si Travis. "Five big fries, one small, four peach mango pie, two ube pie, three jolly spaghetti, six floats, and drinks for everyone. Tatlong coke, dalawang sprite, at isang pineapple drink para kay Hope."

"N-Natandaan mo?"

"I paid attention to it."

"I thought you were not listening earlier."

"I may be quiet but I'm observant."

"Introvert things."

"I only pay attention to things I'm interested into."

I can still remember the foods we will order but not the quantity of each menu. Good thing he remembered that. We looked up on the DMS in front of us and ordered combos that had those. Then we just added things like fries, floats, and sundaes that were not included in the given pair of foods.

"Thanks," I told him while we were walking back to our table after paying.

Mabuti na lang talaga at sinamahan niya ako roon. I couldn't imagine myself staring at the female crew because I forgot my orders. Ang dami naman kasi. I could not blame them naman since mali ang pagkakatanong ko. I should ask the food pairs whether C3, C8, or what, and not the specific.
