eddie and steve had paid for their night meal. well more like steve paid for them both as fast as he could before eddie could tug his arm away and pay for himself.

eddie never liked other people paying for his stuff, it made him feel like a charity case. though it was different with steve. he never made him feel like he was poor or more so reminded him of the fact. yes he always pushed to pay but not because he wanted to remind eddie of the fact that he's broke but just because it was one of his ways of showing his friends he loves them.

"hey, you want me to drive you home?" steve asked as he was already opening the passenger door for eddie, fully expecting him to get in. eddies eyes glistened as he smiled brightly at steve. he felt like a princess and he really didn't mind it.

he got in the car as steve shut the door behind him and got in himself. and as he was backing out he did the imfamous guy move, putting his hand on eddies seat and looking back.

and oh what that view did to eddie. he was ogling steves side profile like a crazy person and he knew damn well that if steve didn't have the sweatshirt on he'd already be on him like a wild animal.

instead he opted to look at his beautiful features, the way the tip of his nose just slightly curled upwards, the bump on his bridge making him look so extremely hot. and how his hair fell around his face almost as if an artist painted it on him, stroke by stroke. how his eyes shined even in the deep night and his lips parted in focus.

oh what eddie would give to just kiss those pretty lips of his. to just feel his soft skin and warmth on his, to be engulfed in everything steve.

and eddie supposed he was looking at steve for way to long because the latter furrowed his brows at eddie. "you okay?" eddie finally regained his consciousness, shaking his head a little, his brown curls bopping at the movement. "yeah.. uhh i'm fine." steve looked at him for a minute, seeming like he didn't fully believe his friend but shrugged it off and drove eddie home.

coming up to eddies trailer steve put his car in park as they both sat there in silence. "thanks" eddie broke it, looking at steve with a smile on his face. "for?" "taking me home? for this night. for accepting my apology." eddie was playing with his rings as he looked at his lap. steve noticed and did what he does best, calmed eddie down. grabbing his hand gently, he lightly squeezed it in reassurance "thank you too. for listening to me."

eddie stared into steves eyes, those deep hazel eyes that sparkled even in the darkest corners. he knew he was smiling like an idiot but he didn't care. he just adored steve so much.

looking at steves hand that was still holding his, eddie suggested "you know, it's pretty late. you could, i don't know.. stay over?" he looked at steve with hopeful eyes because he knew steve couldn't say no to them. he never could. when they were younger he always complained how eddie had an advantage with his big doe eyes. and the boy would frequently abuse his new found power.

"i hate it when you do that" steve whined. and just to play dumb eddie asked "do what?" he batted his eyelashes in the most inconspicuous way he could. "you know damn well. that... that eye thing that you do." eddie could swear he saw steve blush, tho it was unnecessarily hot in the car. "still the same even after two years."

eddie giggled putting his elbow on the dashboard, leaning his head in his palm and looking at steve, the other hand still in the latters grasp. "so? is that a yes?"

steve pretended to think for a moment, both of them knowing damn well the answer is yes. "what about wayne? won't he see my car?" he just wanted to drag this out and torture eddie.

"if you're so scared of him you could always park it by the woods" eddie suggested. steve thought about it and decided it was a solid idea. he let eddie out, went to park the car and returned in a few minutes with eddie waiting outside, chattering his teeth.

"why didn't you go inside? it's freezing out here" steve looked at eddie worried as he set his arm on the small of eddies back lightly pushing him inside and eddie couldn't help but grow slightly stiff underneath the touch. the warmth that spread over his body was enough to keep him warm in the cold air.

"just wanted to wait for you" he confessed as he closed the door behind them. shaking off the invisible cold that was still lingering on his body eddie took off his jacket and shoes and so did steve. he picked up his shoes and carried them to eddies room "better to be safe if we're planing on hiding me from wayne."

eddie giggled at his friend's cleverness and followed him. "when does he even get back?" steve asked, plopping on eddies bed and looking up, meeting eddies eyes. eddie rubbed the back of his neck "5 am i think? usually he just showers and goes to sleep. we could go to school together if you want?" he was just a little nervous asking steve that question, knowing that they just mended their friendship and he wasn't sure if steve would want to be seen with him at school.

but to his delight the boy just smiled at him nodding his head "i would love that."

fishing for two sets of sweatpants and shirts eddie threw one of each at steve "well um, you know where the shower is. you can go first if you want." steve giggled with a shirt eddie threw at him on his face, mumbling a "sure" before heading to the bathroom and locking the door behind him.

when they boy was out of sight eddie just dropped on his bed, staring at the ceiling. he couldn't believe steve was at his place, that they were actually friends again. he was thinking of all the shit he has said to steve after all that happened and he couldn't help but feel so incredibly bad. he wanted to apologize to steve a million times, over and over again but he knew the other would probably kill him.

steve hated people apologizing to him, eddie knew how awkward he always felt. it just so happened that eddie was an over apologizer, if you could say that. and steve helped him with it, always reasuring him that it's okay to make mistakes as long as they're not meant with vicious intent.

and that's what was bothering eddie so much. because even if he didn't really mean all those words that he told steve, he still did. and he knew it hurt steve, he was very sensitive. it was one of the reasons why eddie loved him so much. but he just couldn't forgive himself in that moment.

before eddie could finish his thoughts steves brown locks appeared in his door way. they looked dry so eddie guessed he washed his hair at home already. he trailed his eyes down to steves torso which he only now realized wasn't covered by a shirt, his packs on full display. and if eddie believed in god he would've asked him for help.

but he wasn't so the only thing that helped him right then is the fact that steve sat down next to him, making it harder to stare.

trying to break the awkwardness he created himself, eddie coughed and got up, grabbing his sweats and shirt and headed to the bathroom. locking himself inside he exhaled a long breath, pressing his back against the door like he was guarding it from steve.

"stupid eddie, you fucking dumbass." he was whispering to himself, slapping his cheek lightly to get himself to snap back. "he's your friend. you can't do that."

after he finished his little pep talk he tied his hair up as he too, washed it before he went to bed, and got in the shower. letting the warm water hit his skin he relaxed a little. his trailer was pretty cold as the isolation was shit so the semi warm water really helped.

quickly drying himself he put on his clothes and walked to his room where steve, now fully clothed (much to eddies disappointment) layed under his blanket.

rubbing his eyes he realized just how tired he was. he slowly got into his bed as steve lifted the blanket for him. both of them turned to their sides so they were just looking at eachother. no words needed to be spoken as their eyes started to close slowly and their minds drifted away.

for once, eddie fell asleep happy and calm. knowing that all seemed right in the world he knew he could finally relax.
