chapter 38: why so protective?

A seething Sasuke walked toward the village gate, the entire mission was a failure, they were unable to find sayuki and unable to track her exact location however what angered the father most was what had been uttered out of the pale snake's mouth

"Well I was planning on using her as my next vessel"

The nerve, that damned reptile dared to try and use sayuki as a vessel for his disgusting purposes

But ...

The thought that came rushing through Sasuke's mind made him halt and widen his eyes

'could it be?'

Sasuke's eye brows furrowed , his eyes trailed towards  his temporary teammates who seemed to be emersed in a meaningless conversation with themselves to even notice Sasuke's new demeanor

Turning towards the woods, Sasuke took off in the opposite direction from the village and quickly made his way to the discovered destination

It has taken him at least two hours to get here but there he was, he made it.

Walking briskly, he entered the broken down,wet, decay filled cave, a place he remembers too well. Orochimaru's old hideout

The exact hideout that he was located in when he first ran from the village

Lady Tsunade had said that they checked all found hideouts near the village but no one said they checked it away from the village

With the amount of time it took to make it here with him being one of the fastest people in the village , people suspected that sayuki should take atleast a few more days to get here with her being an immature kid

But not today, Sasuke also thought the same at the beginning, that she couldn't be that fast but he realized that ever since he got to know his daughter she has never once stuck to the expectations of people

People thought she was an average kid but her knowledge far surpassed his and most people he knew, they thought she was weak but she alone defeated momoshiki, they thought she was second best but she -even though most refuse to believe it- won in a fight against her sister , she manipulated one of the smartest families and the hokage all together.

They underestimated her intelligence, goal and strength and now they all live to regret it but no more, no more underestimating his daughter , his blood line, from now on he will see sayuki for who she truly is

Sasuke's train of thought was cut off by the sound of a distant splash

And a groan followed

"Sayuki" he called out

And suddenly silence filled the cave,  he waited  in silence and then foot steps towards him were heard, he held his breath and readied himself in case it wasn't sayuki

The first thing he saw was long black hair glowing in the wing freely, the big doe onyx eyes before finally he saw the entirety of his daughter

She stood tall and strong, confident and fierce , nothing in her being showed vulnerability and nothing in her being showed his once lovable cute baby girl

The thought made him frown but that didn't weaken his stance

"Sayuki" Sasuke breathed out quietly, as if what he was seeing was a mirror, a meer copy that could break the moment he made a sound

"Father, what are you doing here?" The girl rose a delicate brow, her tine enduring and rough, nothing short of cold

"The hokage ordered a search team for you, he wants you back in the village"

"He?" The surprised tone of the younger confused the elder

"Oh, I see, the hokage wants me back, for punishment purposes I presume? So only the hokage wants me back, a pity I actually thought I had a few people who cared" the last sentence was absolutely dripping with sarcasm

Sasuke didn't answer, he was focused on the girl's movements

This however didn't go unnoticed by the younger

"Do you hate me father?" There it was the vulnerability in her voice but Sasuke was too taken aback by the question to notice it

"What?" He breathed out as if he heard wrong

"Normally your very loyal to the village and your family but seeing as I left the village , does that mean you hate me? Did you come out all by yourself to kill me? Perhaps you want to end the village's little nuisance before the rest of the world hears about it right?"

"Sayuki how could you say such thin-"

" Because it's happened before right? An uchiha' who slaughtered their own family for the sake of the village, uncle, your brother , he sacrificed everything for the village, the village that brought him so much pain and still he did it, would you follow in his footsteps , kill me for the sake of the village?"

This stunned Sasuke , never in his mind did he think of such a thing, but it was then that it dawned on him , people are going to be coming after and they will try to kill her

"I..."

A small chuckle left the girl's plump lips

"Why are you here father?"

"I...I came to bring you back to the village" he said it but he didn't believe in pulling it off.

What if they hurt you, take you away , lock you up forever?

"I'll advice you, capture me now or rather kill me now" sayuki said grimly

"What ?"

"Do it or I'll simply come and destroy the village instead"
