ANGELA
•••••••••••••

The entire time we were sitting there, eating our breakfast, there was this tense and somewhat awkward air around Elijah and I. Nicole and Dante could probably sense it too but didn't comment on it - which I'm grateful for.

Sometimes I would catch Elijah glancing over at me from across the table. It made my tummy flutter, and my cheeks heat up but sometimes I would be the one getting caught staring. I don't know what game we're playing but I don't care - deep down I don't want it to end.

After breakfast, Elijah and Dante went to his office to start their morning meetings while Nicole had to go train. She asked if I wanted to join, and I agreed. I didn't do much training this week, so when we walked out of the training room, it felt like my muscles were on fire.

We were on our way upstairs to go take showers when we heard Elijah's voice boom throughout the mansion. Nicole and I looked at each other with raised brows before heading towards the sound of Elijah's voice.

When we reached the foyer, we found Elijah throwing open the front door and glaring at the person who was standing there. He looked irritated and furious as we moved closer towards the scene.

"What are you doing here?" Elijah questioned the person, who we still couldn't see from the place we were standing at.

"Can't I visit my one and only son?" A deep voice answered, and I stiffened.

What is he doing here?

"No." Elijah gritted and was about to throw the door in his face but his father stopped him from doing so.

Emilio Black forces himself through the door and Elijah starts fuming even more. "Either way, we need to talk." He says as he glances around the foyer. When his eyes lands on me, the permanent frown on his face, deepens. He clears his throat before looking back at Elijah.

"I have some useful information regarding Nikolai Nabokov." He doesn't wait for Elijah to answer before heading towards Elijahs office.

Elijah curses in Italian, running a hand through his hair. He then turns to Dante, "I want all the guards who are currently working at the gate, in the basement by the time I'm done with him." He starts walking in the direction his father went in before muttering, "They will be hearing all about letting unwanted guests onto my property."

We hear the sound of a door being slammed shut before the foyer falls silent. We watch as Dante walks down a different hallway while typing rapidly on his phone.

I frown as I think about what had just happened. The last time I saw Elijah's father was when we were at that formal Ball last year. I know the hatred Elijah has for his father ever since we were kids, but he seems . . . angrier. He seems to not only hate his father but loath him.

What had happened to amplify his hatred towards his father?

Nicole and I decide to go take our showers and meet in the living room to watch a movie.  About halfway through the movie, we heard shouting and footsteps nearing the front door.

"Ti farai uccidere se non inizi ad ascoltarmi!Non ne vale la pena!" Emilio yelled.

Nicole and I both got up and rushed towards the front door, where we saw Elijah and his father glaring at each other. I lean over at Nicole and whisper, "What are they saying?" and she shrugs in return.
