MATILDA! CHAPTER TWENTY THREE:

"You sure he got everything?" Kie asked as they sat down at the dock, after John B got back from seeing Ward Cameron get all the gold. Liz leaned up against the railing beside JJ.

"Every bar. The whole enchilada." John B pulled green he cast off his arm "it's not like I expected a happy ending or some shit."

"John B" Liz said

"What, Buffy? It's a hairline fracture. Who cares?"

"I care. And You should too. Your arm's gonna be messed up for life." Liz told him

"It's fine. See?" John B wiggled his fingers and Liz shook her head

"Guys!" Popes voice yelled as he ran towards them "Guys!"

"Einstein turned into Usain Bolt today" Liz muttered, getting a chuckle from JJ

"Oh! Oh! Oh, God. I ran all the way here." Pope leaned over in exhaustion when he got to them

"You all right?" John B asked

"How was the interview, Pope?"

"Don't ask." He said

"Awesome."

"I take it not well" Liz raised an eyebrow 

"JB... Look, I'm sorry-About everything."

"It's fine."

"But-- but I don't have a lot of time, and-- and I have information that is tactically relevant." Pope told them

"He's using Nerdy words, He's got something good" Liz nodded for him to go on and leaned her body close to Pope.

"So, before I had my interview, my dad said he was going down to the private airstrip to cut palms for Cameron's big plane. Because it was too heavy, it needed a longer landing strip to take off. So, I'm there sitting in my interview, thinking to myself, 'Hm. Why would Cameron need a longer airstrip to take off?'" Pope said and both JJ, Liz and John B sat up a bit more "What could be so heavy to weigh it down?"

"Gold"

"That's right"

"Exactly. Guys, this is our chance, but it leaves tonight, and we have to go."

"Guys, we can't give up now."

"What's the plan, big man?" JJ asked

"We're gonna steal that shit back." John B said before looking to Liz who smiled wildly at him

"Let's do this!"

"Come on, boys!"

They drove all the way to Wards airplane strip that was in the middle of nowhere. "We go in there, guns a-blazin', make Ward Cameron beg for mercy, abscond with as much gold as possible and vámonos, get the hell out of there." JJ said

"Down the Intracoastal."

"Wait for weather." Liz said

"Exit to Cuba."

"Cuba?" JJ asked "No, man, Xcalak, Jewel of the Yucatan. Lobsters so thick, mangoes, and no word for money." JJ said loading the gun

"Let's do this shit."

They got to the fenced out area and got out of the car, rushing to try and see what was happening.

"What's the plan?" Kie asked "Broad strokes."

"I don't think we got that far." John B said. Pope looked in binoculars towards the plane

"They're loading up the gold." He said handing them to John B
