1 " CAN'T SAY NO "

" Hey, Ade... Ade gising ... " said claire who is a friend of mine, she was gently tapping my shoulder trying to wake me up, -

" uhmm .. Wai- what?! , naka tulog ba ako ?" I asked her confusedly, claire nodded " naman , naka tulog ka nanaman" she added.

"ahh shit ... Ano ba naman to " i murmured , habang inayos yung sarili ko

"Ade , you should get some rest wag ka nga magpaka workaholic at magpuyat palagi - not good for your health " paulit-ulit na paalala ni claire sa akin .

I'm a working student since then, but I have always managed my time from work and studies. I work as a part-timer coffee staff in one of the most well-known shops that serve delicious coffee you've ever tasted, I only work 5 hours a day and usually 4 pm to 9 pm closing time yung pinili ko na sched kasi sa morning I have classes, - luckily yung owner at the same time manager ng shop ay sobrang bait at napaka considerate most of his staff ay mga students and I've been working here for 4 years already and fun fact yung owner is still young he is just 2 years older than me and bonus napaka gwapo pa sabi ko nga sa sarili ko napaka swerty na magiging girlfriend nito napaka hardworking, mabait at good looking nasa kanya na ang lahat.  

" by the way i have to go , ill  see you on Monday " sabi ko at nagmamadali na akong umalis at dumiretso na ako sa coffee shop . Pagdating ko sa shop agad ko pinark yung motor/ scooter ko at tumakbo papasok sa loob 5 mins nalang kasi ma l-late na ako, - saktong sakto pagka swipe ko sa biometric it was exactly 4:00 pm , after that i took a deep breath for i was panting . As i turned my head on my right i startled as i didn't noticed Kenneth (the shop owner/ manager) who was  standing while leaning his head against the wall... " Oh shi-.. "

"Oops ... " he immediately stop me from cursing with his point finger na nasa bibig ko,- " cursing is not allowed here . Wag mo nga eh habit yan," he said, and then he smiled at me.

" Sorry, Sir... " I apologise  

" Hay nako here we are again , di ba sinabi ko na sayo na wag mo akong tawaging sir ? .. No need to be formal here , we're all friends here " he said . I simply rolled my eyes on him and after a sec. I laugh at him  " maiwan na nga muna kita dyan magbibihis muna ako, you're wasting my time sssir kenneth haha "  i said at agad pumasok sa staff room ..  He simply scoffed and shook his head .

Walang araw na hindi busy dito sa shop , everyday we cater 300 plus minimum customers , our customers are mostly foreigners , elite people for short wealthy people yet affordable lang naman talaga rates ng coffee namin dito kahit mga highschool students makaka afford , iba lang talaga ang quality ng coffee product ni Kenneth , - hinahanap-hanap talaga ng lahat .

It was already closing time , i was still wiping the table at yung ibang colleagues ko nagpa alam na para umuwi , " Ingat kayo .. " i said and continued cleaning . Ng natapos ko ng gawin lahat , nag time out nako  , changed my clothes and ready na umalis , -  i was about to open the door ng biglang tinawag ako ni  Kenneth ..  " Uuwi ka na ? " he asked , i slowly turned my head and respond " Andyan ka pa pala ? i thought umalis ka ... yes pauwi na ako , bakit ? "

"Nag dinner ka na ba ?" he asked

" Actually hindi pa , pero its okay pauwi naman ako.. sa bahay na ako kakain " i replied

" ganun ba , sayang bumili pa naman ako ng paborito mong pagkain ... spicy chicken and ramen ? "  , kenneth said as he slightly pout his lips, nagpapa cute . Aalis na sana ako pero biglang kumulo yung tyan ko pagkarinig ko sa spicy chicken and i heard kenneth chuckled at the back .

"ughh , nakakainis ka talaga alam mo naman na hindi ko talaga yan matatangihan ... "  sabi ko with a guilty face

"haha i know , kaya halika na let's eat while its still hot "  sabi ni kenneth at agad niya nilapag ang pagkain sa table

"fine ... " and walked towards him at tinulungan ko na lang din sya mag prepare sa food .

Palagi to ginagawa ni Kenneth sa akin as long as he has a free time , minsan nga nakakahiya na kapag sunod2x na yung pag-aya nya sa akin , knowing that i am just his employee pero palagi sinasabi ni kenneth sa akin , sa aming lahat na we should treat him as friend not as a boss or whatso . Pero habang tumatagal kasi i noticed kenneth gives me special treatment , ayoko mag assume pero nakikita ko kasi sa galaw nya and the way he treated me i feel like i was special to him  ... may something talaga pero i am not sure what it is kasi we've known each other 4 years and ever since i sarted working here ganyan na kasi sya sa akin his actions and treatment towards me never change .

Habang kumakain, we were having a little chi chat and Kenneth was always the one who starts a  conversation ...
" So, what are your plans this weekend?"

" hmmm nothing , gusto ko lang matulog buong araw "

" Seryoso ? .. bakit naman ?"

" Sabi kasi ni Claire sa akin , i need some sleep and rest na h-haggard na kasi daw ako " patawa kong sabi sa kanya

He laughed and replied , " talaga sinabi nya yun? , hindi naman ah...  sabihan mo si claire na bumili na sya ng bagong glasses nya, parang mas malabo na yung mata niya ngayon"

"haha but seriously I think I should take some rest this weekend. itong mga nakaraang araw kasi di ko napapansin na nakakatulog ako in the middle of the class   " i said, while my mouth was full . Kenneth simply nodded and told me to finish my food since its almost late.

After eating dinner , hinatid ako ni kenneth sa parking lot just beside the shop , while i was getting ready  ,-  bigla hinawakan ni kenneth yung braso ko at pinaharap nya ako , he took a deep breath at nararamdaman ko yung lamig ng kamay nya , " Ade , i have something to tell you - " but before he could continue, i interrupted him ... I took his hand and gently rubbed it and said "are you okay ?, ang lamig ng kamay mo " ...

"ahh huh? w-well I'm fine .... "he uttered as he took his hand immediately , he continued " anyways forget it,  you need to go home its almost late " sabi niya at agad niya sinoot sa akin ang helmet ko .. " alright, you're good to go ." he said as he gently tapped my helmet. I simply nod and turned my engine on, " I'm going now, see you next week "

"Take Care Ade ... " he said and waved at me.

"you too, take care . "and after that bumyahe na ako straight to my home.
