"If you want some, come get some,
'cause where I'm from we tote big guns"
Let's Go x Trick Daddy

Beckham

I grab my bag and trudge towards the hangar, smiling fondly at the memory.  Jake and I have a tight bond and, contrary to popular belief, have not fucked.  Sure, our banter is heavily flirtatious and borderline inappropriate most of the time, but we value our partnership too much to ever cross that line.  Damn does he make it tempting sometimes though!   I'm woman enough to admit that if he really and truly offered, I wouldn't hesitate to take him up on it and I'm about 90% sure he feels the same.

"Damn girl!  You look like that when you just wake up?  You sure you don't wanna go ahead and marry me now?" the fine as fuck devil himself hollers from across the tarmac.  "Aw baby, you sure know how to make a girl blush.  I woke up like this, hashtag flawless" I say as I dramatically toss the tail of my braid over my shoulder.  "C'mon Bagman, stop lying to her.  We all know she looks like a half dead dragon in the morning" Rooster cackles from the C-130 we're loading ourselves onto.  "Fuck off with your porn 'stache, douchebag.  Here, one bird to another" I toss back, throwing my middle finger up over my shoulder as I hustle to grab my gear.

Jake doubles over laughing, then grabs my bags from me as we board the plane.  Our baby is nestled in the middle of the cargo plane, and I appreciatively run my hand down the side of the helo as I walk to my seat.  The HH-60W helicopter is what Jake and I refer to as our baby.  We're always paired together for exfil missions because the man can pilot anything, and I turned out to be a pretty solid copilot on top of my badassery as a medic if my services are required.  Jake plops into the seat next, drops a pillow onto my lap, and proceeds to lay his head in my lap.  This became our routine fairly quickly, since the giant golden retriever of a human lives for head scratches, swearing it helps him focus before a mission.  I think the big moron just likes having a reason to have me play with his hair.

"Anyone feel like explaining why we're up before the asscrack of dawn?" I ask once everyone has found their own seats.  Rooster and Phoenix hover by the door of the cockpit- seeing as how they're flying the big bird- with Payback and Bob across from us.  I note the absence of Fanboy and Coyote, figuring it must not be super wild if we don't need the full crew.  Coyote recently got married and Fanboy's wife is expecting their first baby any day now, so we try not to pull them if we can avoid it.

Mav speaks up from across the way, explaining that a small arms deal bust got burned and they need an immediate rescue, instead of leaving tomorrow under less suspicious circumstances.  They're pinned in a fire fight in the middle of an abandoned town, where Hangman and I will drop in for rescue via helo and the Payback and Bob provide cover given that they're both weapons specialists.  Mav, Rooster and Phoenix will stay on the plane, ready to reload the helo and get back in the air as fast as possible.  Hangman helps me make sure we have all my supplies onboard and everyone else makes sure their weapons are ready and have more ammo than they'll need.  Within the hour, our wheels have touched down in Puerto Rico and our baby is going through preflight checks.  "Alright, shitheads!  Let's go save some asses!" I shout through our headsets once Hangman has us in the air.  Next thing you know, we're dropping ropes for the boots on the ground and pulling them back up into the safety of the helicopter.  Thankfully, nobody needed me on the ground and the extent of their injuries doesn't surpass needing a few butterfly stitches and minimal wound dressings.  "You know, Halo, you and I make a pretty great team.  We should get jerseys" Hangman jokes over the radio. "I dunno, I feel like we're more of a modern day Rocky & Bullwinkle...I'm clever and you're a giant fuckin' moron" I quickly shoot back, earning a laugh from everyone onboard.  "It's funny because it's true" Bob manages through a chuckle.

Damn I love this team.
