POV - Mikado
I actually managed to will myself to sleep in a little this morning, through Monocrow's morning announcement. Nevertheless, I was up and awake a half hour later, and I made my way towards the dining hall area like normal.
Most of my classmates all sat at the main table in a happy group.
"Guys... what's up?" Nikei's muffled voice was heard through the omelette he was currently face-down in.
"What's wrong with Nikei?" I asked.
"Nikei was up all night interviewing me last night..." Teruya groaned. "I was only able to catch a bit of sleep when it became boring. I mainly sleep in a broom closet..."
Monocrow must've pulled all of the stops to make Teruya feel the most despair ever...
"I think he's collapsed from exhausation." Kokoro said.
"Yes," Syobai said. "Mr Yomiuri gave everything to being a reporter, often passing up eating or sleeping for news gatherings. So it was inevitable that he would collapse after last night."
As the Ultimate Detective watched the sleeping Ultimate Journalist, the Ultimate Yakuza led the Ultimate ??? in.
"If you really want to prove your worth to me, don't mess up. Got that?" Shinji poked Kanade square in the chest.
"Thank you. You don't have to tell me twice." She half-pleaded with a submissive dullness. "For all you know, I could be the Ultimate Serial Killer or something..."
"HEY NIKEI!" Shinji started.
That got Nikei up.
"Kanade! Why are you here?"
"I was just talking with Monocrow, you know." Kanade said. "I thought I'd ask him if I could at the very least see the two decedents so I could put them back together again. But, turns out he already gave them their final disposition, so-"
"What? Why?!" Sora shrieked, her face turning pink as she realized she'd been louder than she meant to be.
"And what do you mean by... 'final disposition'?" added Emma.
"Because it's respectful," Kanade pursed her lips. "And 'final disposition' is simply the polite term for 'burial' or 'cremation'... or in Monocrow's case, 'yeeted off a cliff to the wolves'."
"HE DID WHAT WITH THE BODIES?!" Shinji gasped, nearly dropping the pile of breakfast food he'd amassed.
"Oh, that's nice..." Syobai muttered sarcastically.
"Hajime's gone..." Iroha cried."Of course," Hibiki said coldly. "If Monocrow hadn't executed him, he'd still be alive."
I nodded gravely. Two days ago, we had to watch as Hajime was trapped in a machine and had his face beaten to a bloody pulp before being beaten up and shredded alive.
His horribly mangled corpse had been an ugly sight and we knew full well that we would never forget it.
I took a shower. Maybe the events of two days ago were simply a one-off incident, I told myself, stepping out of the shower. Maybe seeing a classmate get shredded alive was enough to quell anyone's appetite for murder.
"Maybe I should check on Teruya," I thought. "Maybe he's in my room."
As soon as I entered my room, I was greeted by a strange situation. "There you are!" Sora said.
All my classmates were there, playing a game with Teruya.
"What is that bastard up to?" I asked.
"I'm trying to get everyone together for a sleepover." Teruya explained.
