POV - Mikado
A heavy clank heralded the end of our descent, and the doors ahead of us opened with a whoosh of cold air. It did little to refresh me... stewing within my own inner turmoil. It was only by instinct that I followed the others through the doors and into the court room. This time, Monocrow had decorated it in hideous colors and patterns like a twisted funhouse - bright reds, pinks, oranges, greens, blues and purples seared my eyes, arranged in polka dots, argyles, checkerboards, hearts and stripes. One more podium was there - Teruya's. Two new portraits stood tall in the podiums: Hajime's and Emma's. Hajime's face was barely visible behind a bloody "FATALITY" message on top of it. Emma also had an X covering her face, the X having been decorated with piano keys.
My heart pounded as we all took our places.
Emma Magorobi, the Ultimate Pianist... She had been a kind person. She was beautiful, sweet, airheaded, calm, gentle. What had become of the person that had killed her...
And that person was among us. I didn't want to believe it, I wished I could refuse to believe it. But regardless, we needed to find the answer. It didn't matter if we believed it or not... it was the only way for us to survive.
And so, this life-threatening trial, brimming with our hope and despair... began.
CLASS TRIAL, IN SESSION!
"Greetings! Welcome to our second class trial! I'm ready to go~!" Monocrow said.
"Now, I could bore you with a recitation of the trial rules, but wouldn't that be redundant? Wouldn't that be tiring to entirely rewrite just to keep it fresh? You already know how this goes! No more interruptions, let's begin!"
"Hey, let's start with something everyone here can agree with," I raised my voice to get everyone's attention. "Let's just... start from the beginning, with the body."
"Ugh... do we have to...?" Teruya whined, gagging at the memory.
"'Afraid so," shrugged Syobai. "Points for creativity, if nothing else."
"...Probably should've seen it coming..." said Kanade.
"But... the body was turned into a doll! Where do we even start?!" Sora grimaced.
"Well... with the non-doll parts, I guess," I bit my lip in apprehension.
"Go on, Mr. Sannoji." Syobai said. "Perhaps any doubts we have about Miss Magorobi's death will be made clear."
Non-Stop Debate, Start!
Nikei: So the Monocrow File says that Emma was basically made into a doll. Except the fact that she died from blood loss.
Syobai: It says her throat was slit with a sharp object.
Teruya: Okay, but did she die from that? We can't even tell 'cause she was made into a doll.
Sora: She definitely died from the slit throat.
She's right...
Mikado: I AGREE!
BREAK!
"Sora! You're right," I pointed.
"Yes. Emma died from her throat being slit." Teruya explained. "It seems that her jacket was sewn onto the skin, her mouth was sewn shut with thread, and buttons had been sewn into her eyes."
"...YOU GUYS DON'T WANNA KNOW HOW HE FIGURED THAT OUT. TRUST ME," Shinji added queasily.
"Wait a minute," Nikei rose a hand. "I got this."
