The day began like any other on this wretched island. I got up, stretched my arms and headed for the restaurant. Closing and locking the door behind me, I saw that the tray of food meant for Iroha last night had been removed... maybe she had eaten it during the night?
I made my way to the restaurant and put together a plate of food for myself. I sat down beside Iroha, who was chatting with the others... but again, I noticed that Nikei wasn't joining us for breakfast.
"How are you feeling, Iroha?" I asked.
"Wha- oh, yes, much better," she blinked, gently touching her forehead. "I'm so terribly sorry I missed you all at dinner last night... my head was absolutely killing me."
"Don't say it like that!" Kokoro cringed.
"Right... oh, and thank you so much for bringing me dinner!" Iroha continued. "I'm afraid I slept soundly throughout the night, however, so I never ate it... but thank you for thinking of me, all the same."
"No problem... have you seen Nikei, by chance?" I asked.
"I'm afraid not, but there was a second note slipped under my door from her... apparently she spent the night swimming again and would probably be sleeping in," she shook her head.
"Again? Man, that journalist sure likes getting wet..." Syobai smirked.
"Does she, now...?" Teruya stroked his chin in thought, barely hiding a grin.
"I can imagine that 'tea' of his kept him up all night," Iroha remarked, sticking out her tongue. "What he did to his cup last night was quite simply a crime against tea."
There was nothing to do but wander around for someone to talk to. Eventually I found myself in a warehouse. It was big.
Nikei was there.
"Nikei!" I spoke.
"Mikado!" He replied.
"Should we talk?"
"Yes." I said. "How's it going?"
"Well..." Nikei said. "I was carrying Teruya's e-handbook. I accidentally slipped on some water and dropped the e-handbook into the furnace. That's proof that these handbooks can be destroyed by exposure to heat."
"That's nice." I spoke. "Anyways, I love my talent. Do you like yours?"
Nikei was quiet. "I don't." He finally spoke.
You don't like your talent...?!
"So, this is the Ultimate Journalist, huh?" I asked.
"Let me explain," Nikei said. "My family is a bunch of famous journalists, and they always expected me to become a journalist. I love notebooks. But I hate being a journalist... Though, some journalists don't feel the same as me... They love their job. My family pushed me to become the Ultimate Journalist. And don't get me started on my dad."
"Your dad?" I asked.
"He never acknowledged me at all." Nikei sighed. "He even used me as a chair!""That's terribly awful... I'm so sorry." I spoke. "Anyways... I've got a gift for you."
Give Nikei a present?
> Yes
> A Box of Chocolates
I gave him a gift-wrapped heartshaped box. "It's a box full of chocolates." I said. "I think you'll love it!"
Nikei blushed. "Ooh~? Aren't you just a sweetheart. Stop it darling, you'll only make me fall for you more."
What?!
"What's with the sexy talk?" I asked.
"I've been meaning to say," Nikei started. "But I love you, Mikado."
"You love me?!" I spat.
"Yes," Nikei said.
"We're lovers now?!" I spoke. "Thank you! This is the best day of my life!"

Me and Nikei set off to explore more of the warehouse.
When we came across a woodchipper, Nikei started writing something down.
"Isn't this a big woodchipper," He said. "Anything can fit there! Even a human!"
I hate to think of what he means by that...
After a few hours of more exploration of the warehouse, we headed back to the restaurant.
To my dismay the others had indeed found the wood chipper.
"Alright, first thing's first... absolutely no one is going into that wood chipper in the warehouse," Syobai ordered. "That is an accident just waiting to happen."
"The rest of it is lovely, though," said Iroha, playing with Nikei's notepad, such to his annoyance. "It might not be very decorated, I admit, but walking around it is good for anxiety."
Kokoro nodded. "Yep, it'll definitely calm some nerves."
"Yea? What do you have in mind for tomorrow?" asked I.
"Well, we were thinking we could all hang out together at the nearby Starbucks," said Teruya. "Maybe get some snacks and drinks together and make a day of it."
"Ooh! That sounds fun!" Iroha chirped happily.
"Yea, that doesn't sound too bad," Syobai nodded, looking Nikei's way. "There's a couple people here I'd definitely like to chat with, in a more... relaxed setting."
"I know just the thing to make for such an occasion," Teruya grinned. "I've got a recipe I've been dying to try out!"
"Oh, forgive me for wanting to survive a killing game," Kokoro huffed, pouting. "But fine... I'll try to relax and... mingle a bit." She added quite a bit of begrudging emphasis on "mingle".
"Perfect. So, how 'bout we all meet up at Starbucks at like, 1pm?" suggested Nikei. "Hang out and stuff until, say, 4pm so we all have time to shower and dry off before dinner?"
"1pm? I'll have to start the recipe right away," Teruya chuckled, slurping down the last of his huge bowl of food as he got up from the table. Smiles spread on everyone's faces as they talked excitedly amongst themselves... well, everyone except Kokoro, anyway. After finishing my meal, I brought my dishes to the dishwasher in the kitchen, where Teruya was busy pouring an unholy amount of sugar into a pot full of peas. I spent the rest of the night wondering what in god's name he was making with that concoction...
