I was walking in a dark forest
When I came across another man
He also was walking in the forest
But he looked like he had a plan
It felt like he knew where he was going
And his path was slowly widening
Beyond him was much vegetation
But I could make out some of his friends
Yes, thet's right: he wasn't alone
His friends were walking alongside him
And now on his other side
My path came up, and I walked along.I was walking in a dark forest
When I found I wasn't alone
There were many in that forest
And my path led me to a man
This man I met walks with many friends
And they were all as one
When my path joined their road
I began to walk with them
This man I met, he took me in
And his one friend also did
I became a part of them
And we walked into the forest deepI was walking in a dark forest
When I joined a group of men
We were walking in a dark forest
When two of the men took me in
I led these men right down my path
Each on his own, simultaneously
I fixed a match for the one man
But handled his friend carelessly
We were walking down a wide road,
The men, their friends and I,
But the two men who took me in
Didn't know I'd be their demise,
And sadly, neither did I.I was walking in a dark forest
And the forest was full of sound:
Of laughter, and of romance,
Of sorrow, and of silence
I was unable to face my feelings
So I lied to the man with scars
And I would have done the same
To him with golden hair
But my bruised and wounded heart,
Despite my saying "One down, one more to go",
Spoke to me ever quietly, "Please, no more..."
So alas, my poor soul must learn to live with it all-
The pain, the shame and the guilt.
I brought change to some in the forest,
But the dark forest... changed me.
