I hate myself right now, for saying that, as I walked down the desert I learned now how hard it was for those poor travelers had to go through back then, the sun was high up in the sky, normally the sun would be warm on my skin that it would feel satisfying, but instead it was scorching, if I didn't have a hat right now I would be burning on my skin, and surprisingly itchy to my neck, I can tell now why it was so hard for some people to live in some environments like this, and still I was glad to go walking here, hearing the crunching sound of sand on the ground, walking around there were so many things that I spotted right away, first order of business I did, I went and looked for the mail service so I could sent the letter to my mom, after giving some directions by the people I headed to the mail area where I had to enter this small marble building, inside there were four people all talking to the cashier in sending their deposit or letters.

I went and met with my clerk, and he offered a two bit discount for me to send my letter, I nodded, 'yeah that'll do', I remarked, he took my envelope, 'where is this to be taken to,' he asked, 'Japan', I replied.

With my letter sent, I walked around the town where I would run into some of the farm stands, each person were they were all offering different products.

Carrots, Celery, Cabbage, all perfect for making soup, 'I counted the money in my hand, this should be enough thought to myself, so I bought every last veggie that I was meant to get for the afternoon, someone handed me a bag which would help me carry these in my shoulder, so I bought one of everything, enough that would last me and Mike, for at least three nights.

Once I got the ingredients, my tummy rumbled, such timing, I went around and found biggest restaurant there, 'this is the most beautifully crafted building I done seen', I said, pushing the gates open I stridded into scene with my hands on my belt, the sounds of a horses horse shoe clamped behind me, I pushed the gate open and allowed myself to look around at the new place I was in, everyone around me were all seen chugging beer, there were some people unconscious on the ground, my attention however were focused to the music, there was a stage a woman by the name of Mauricia from what I heard of one of the people was singing, 'Tip Toe', she had such a soft voice, in an alley I could a man who was just lying there on his face, for the time I thought of going to see if he was alright, though he wouldn't budge, no one else seemed to notice.

I walked over to the bartender, who was currently taking a nap, probably worked early, I lightly grasp his shoulder slightly and shook him, 'excuse me sir, I said quietly, he stirred in his sleep, 'Grrgh, Bllr, 'yes no I'll take chicken', he mumbled waking up, possibly from a dream he had, he then looked right at me and smiled, 'oh why howdy there fine partner, he said in a chipper tone,' he wore a stripped red shirt if I recall, had a slight shaven bald spot on his top of the head and had a scruffy brown mustache on his lip, I asked him if he served any kind of food.

You must be new around these parts, he remarked, 'normally anyone knows what to order here.

I nodded, Yes, and I've taken sanctuary somewhere here in this place and am wondering of what I could order.

Well, we have plenty for you to enjoy here, he replied, 'would you like to enjoy some fried or slightly burnt meat wrapped in tortillas or maybe you would enjoy a nice baked egg and meatloaf fresh from getting served, ', both of those choices sounded very tempting, he went on about any kinds of other plates I could order, eventually I decided to choose meatloaf and sweet corn with ranch sauce, as it seemed as a simple meal to have, he nodded and went to a door in the back, possibly where he would get the ingredients to make it.

While the tender was busy, I sat there tapping lightly on the desk, glancing around I noticed some of there were a group of people all cornered in this one small table, there were three middle aged men, possibly in their 18 or 20 years of age, they were holding cards in their hands while talking spontaneously about other things, I have known that certain people liked to partake in these kind of card games, curiosity got the best of me, looking around and seeing the chef was still busy, I decided to go and chat with these men, get to befriend some of the local residents around here, with a soft smile I walked over to their table, 'howdy there men,' I said with the kindest voice I could offer, 'mind if I sit here', one of them looked at me, he had on blue suspenders, and messy blonde hair, 'well that there depends kid,' he said holding the deck up, 'you know how to play.

I nodded unconsciously, 'yeah, I responded, 'sort of, at least,' the men told me I had to put something on the table for me to bet on before I could play with them, so I added a dollar hundred of coin, this was my first time playing, so I didn't know what to expect, I mainly just followed what the other guys were doing the whole round, the first guy had a blue coat, and a long brown haired ponytail, he put down a ace, so I took a card from deck, I didn't look at my hand once, y instinct was merely pray and hope that this won't blow up in my face, the game passed quick, with the men dropping fives, a Jack, a diamond, until after a few minutes I finally called, 'uh draw', I said cautiously, placing my cards down.

Everyone looked at me surprised, 'what I said, did I lose or sum thing, I asked, this was my first time, so I didn't expect to win so easily, but right as I was gonna leave one of them stopped me.

'Your first time'? He said bewildered, 'why you just gone and beat us all in one try, he revealed, 'kid you just pulled out a flush', I didn't know what a flush was at the time', only heard it whenever I use the bathroom, so to hear that it was a card trick, was confusing.

But getting that out of the way, I was shocked to learn I beat the guys, they handed me their cash and the chips, 'kid are you sure that was your first try,' another man wearing a blue shirt and had a bushy mustache claimed, 'you didn't even look at your deck,' I nodded, I didn't know what to say, why I was ecstatic. By that time, my order was finished, the bartender called my name so I got up, put the cash in my pockets and I walked over to get the food, I smelled the aroma coming from tray, it smelled great, like victory.

I impressed the men so much, they invited me to their table, each of them offering to pay for me on the food, I got to learn their each of their names individually, 'Tonio, Ralph and Charles, all of them were working Mariachi who had grown up together in this old town, Charles was 19, Tonio was 20, Ralph was the oldest of them all, he was 37, I sat and spent time listening to each describe their stories about their family, their careers, and relationships, I smiled telling them my story, I didn't think I would already make new friends in this town, things seem to be going well for me, I don't know what could be better at this time, we all spoke in the old cowboy language, one that I was fond of, this was like a dream come true, nothing could go wrong.

Then I hear the noise of a slow, but noticeable boot cuffs.
