Chapter 23

Mia was shocked to see that the shield that protected her before, surrounded her and Chimamanda.

She touched her body to be sure. "I'm still conscious", she said outloud in surprise.

"Is that something to be proud of? What is going on?" Chimamanda asked alarmingly, "What is that? What's this around us? Did you do this?.... Forget my questions, let's just get out of here", she said still scared of getting up because a constant flow of acid was directed towards them.

Mia could feel her shield getting weaker and weaker as the acid was still in contact with it.

"The shield can't hold up any longer."

"WHAT?! Then make it hold up!" Chiamanda exclaimed extremely worried.

Mia realised that they couldn't escape from the situation. If she brought down the shield, the acid will get to them and she wasn't skilled enough to move the shield if they ran.

"So what are we going to do?" Chimamanda asked wearily.

Mia was at a loss for words.

"MIA! I'm serious! What are we going to do", Chimamanda asked with a slight tremble in her voice and frightened eyes as Mia looked pale and didn't respond. It was at that point that Chimamanda realized their situation.

Tap, tap, tap, tap... SWISH!
That was the sound that was heard before the acid stopped flowing towards them.

Mia looked to see that the head of the teras layed on the floor disconnected from its body.

Beside the teras was Dale, but he was already transformed, wearing his kimono with two white tails and a ears on top of his head. He held his sword in his other hand with his back facing the girls.

Mia looked at him realizing he had just saved them. "Da–"

"HOLD UP— Is that Dale?!" Chimamanda exclaimed as she shifted Mia aside to get a better view.

Dale was madly uncomfortable as he heard Chimamanda's voice. "(Sigh) This is going to be bothersome", he thought.

Mia heaved a sigh of relief as the shield fell apart and vanished.

"Nobody is answering me", Chimamanda complained.

"Can you walk?" Dale asked referring to Mia but still not facing them.

"Yeah", Mia replied while they were still on the floor.

"Then take her and get out of here", he continued.

"Well what he means is that you should stay closeby..."

Mia and Chimamanda turned to see Nathan and Roxanne coming, already transformed.

"...atleast until were done here", Nathan completed.

"Isn't that Nathan, Roxanne. What is going on here?!" Chimamanda asked already standing up.

"Hmm, weird. Usually people that know us take a while before they recognize us", Nathan stated.

"Stop noticing stuff like this. We have bigger fish to fry", Roxanne voiced out as she looked at the teras.

"It hasn't disappeared yet, meaning that it's still alive. Both of you should get out of here", she said referring to Mia and Chimamanda.

"You don't have to tell me twice", Chimamanda responded already moving towards the exit.

Almost immediately, the body of the teras which was disconnected from its head, moved quicky towards the exit of the alley and blocked it creating a kind of wall.
