Part 5 - Preparation

It was another day, and you came back home from college as usual. Mid-semester exams were going on, and in a few days, you would be tested on the subject that Mr. Kaiser painstakingly did extra classes for.

"I'm home," you called out wearily and kicked off your shoes. There was no answer.

You walked into the living room and found Hermann sitting upright on the couch, but fast asleep, his head resting on the back rest.

Gil must have called him again.

You tiptoed in the living room and then made your way to the kitchen to search for your brothers. Gilbert would usually be cooking up a storm in the kitchen, but he wasn't there. You made your way upstairs and entered Ludwig's room, but he wasn't there either.

Lud usually is at the gym at this time, but where has Gil gone?

You came to the realisation that you were all alone in a house with a man, and that man being your love interest. It made your heart speed up a little.

You went downstairs into the living room again and curiously tiptoed towards the sleeping man. You stood by the arm rest, keeping your hands on it to support yourself as you craned your neck to look at his face.

His loose golden hair cascaded beautifully over his face and you gingerly reached out and pushed his hair aside without awaking him. You looked at his eyelashes; they were golden and long.

He's even more beautiful up close.

His cheeks were fair and smooth; your eyes fell on the scar. It was the most prominent part of his face; it attracted all the attention. It seemed like it had been inflicted a long time ago, considering that it looked faded.

I wonder how he got that scar.

You reached out and traced the long scar lightly with your finger. It was slightly more raised than his cheek.

"Is it really that nice to touch?"

Your eyes turned to the source of the voice, which was just in front of you. Mr. Hermann Kaiser had his very pretty eyes open, staring at you with a suppressed smile.

"I'm sorry!" you exclaimed, pulling both your hand and yourself away. You were so engrossed with the scar that you hadn't realised that he was already awake.

You immediately turned away to run upstairs but a question from him stopped you.

"Are you curious about it?"

You stopped at the doorway and looked over your shoulder at him. He looked at you with expectant eyes. The curiosity was evident in your face.

Turning your body to face him completely, you then moved to the couch and sat next to him, keeping some distance. Pulling your legs up on the couch and hugging your knees together, you said,

"Please tell me about it,"

He smiled gently. It was odd to see him smile. He often smiled with your brothers, but not much with you. Basking in his smiles felt like you got V.I.P access to a prestigious place. It did feel that way, since the other ladies at college who were also interested in him didn't have this access.

"It's nothing extravagant, really," he said, "I was just a rebellious kid back then. I didn't like school or teachers and got into a lot of fights with other kids." he traced the scar with his fingers, "On the day I got this one, they were armed with knives and I got attacked. It was pretty deep, but the blade narrowly missed my eye, or else I'd be half blind now,"
