"____, happy birthday! Please wake up. Ludwig-san will be here to see you." 

You opened your little eyes to see your elder brother, Kiku shaking you awake.

"Luddy-chan?" you mumbled sleepily as you sat up, "Why?"

"He's come to babysit you while I go for a meeting." said Kiku, "He will be taking you out to play in the amusement park since it's your birthday."

Upon hearing this, you immediately got out of bed and Kiku led you to the bathroom. You relieved yourself, and then he helped you brush your teeth and bathe. When you were washed and dried, he brought you out.

"I have a gift for you." he said, searching through the drawers.

"What is it? What is it?" you, now fully awake, hopped around in anticipation.

Kiku brought out a beautiful light blue frock with a butterfly pattern on the skirt. You squealed in delight upon seeing it. 

"It's kyawaii!" you exclaimed.

Kiku blinked. Where on earth did she learn that? 

Either way, he dressed you up and then brought you to the kitchen for breakfast. He served you his special chicken croquette sandwiches and some fruit juice. 

"Croquettes!" you exclaimed, beaming at the special breakfast which was very unlike the usual one of rice, miso, fish, and pickled vegetables.

"Eat well, ____-chan. And lean close to the table so you don't spill any on your clothes, alright?" he said as he sat down with his share of breakfast.

"Yes, aniki." 

Kiku blinked again. Where on earth did she learn that?! 

Figuring it to be from the yakuza manga he was working on, he decided to let it be. He seemed to like being called that. Although I would have liked "onii-chan" better, but oh well. 

When both of you had finished eating, the doorbell rang. 

"It must be Ludwig-san." said Kiku, "Can you take the plates to the sink? Hold them tight."

While you took the plates and climbed up the little stepping stool to put them in the sink, Kiku got the door and welcomed Ludwig inside. Ludwig was one of Kiku's closest friends; they had been close for many years before you were born. The German also had the privilege of taking care of you in your early years, so he was a very familiar face to you.

"____! Ludwig-san is here!" Kiku called from the foyer as he led his friend to the living room.

"Coming!" your shrill voice resounded from the kitchen, and soon both the men heard your footsteps over the floor. You burst in through the doors of the living room.

"Luddy-chan!" you screamed. 

"Ah, I can see she hasn't shed that embarrassing nickname." Ludwig chuckled as he knelt down and opened his arms, "Hello, _____."
