And it will be an honour for you to join us. Our Ningol chakkouba is celebrated as -

Today is one of the most beautiful, important and famous festivals of our Meitei community. It is the festival in which the married Ningol(women) are invited for a feast by their Mabung-moupa, Mapa-mapu, and Makhura-maton (brothers, father, uncle). And the Ningol will come to their Mabung-moupa, Mapa-mapu, Makhura-matron's with fruits, and some items which they can afford or the item which are found in their own garden and meet their brothers, sisters and parents. But these days, they bring a lot of things including coconut, gula and many others which are imported from other states just to show the other Ningol (Women) who also come for the feast to their parent’s house and compare who is the richest among themselves without speaking. And they spoiled the beautiful meaning of “Ningol Chakkouba”.

Mapung-moupa, Mapa-mapu, Makhura-maton (the men who stay at home after driving their wives) will cook the feast of the said day and wait for the Ningol(s) to come. The younger brother or younger men will serve their Mache-machan (sisters) along with the elder men by serving the dishes. After the elders are finished eating they will eat, and the satisfied Ningol will sever them and clean the dishes when the men peel the fruits to eat together and talk about their days.

After that, the Ningol(s) will visit along with fruits which they brought to meet their paternal relatives. And their paternal relatives will present something as a gift of ‘Ningol Chakkouba’. During that time they meet their Matharoi (female friends of female). After returning to their parent’s house, they will get a present from their brothers and parents. It is either their request or their brothers' wishes.
