Ava POV

Ever since summer vacation ended,

Kyle has been known as a straight up heartthrob.

And I have to agree.

When he came back from Dubai this summer,

I couldn't believe it was the same Kyle I saw before.

Girls are fawning and drooling over him, everywhere he goes.

Well maybe I'm exaggerating,

the girls would just stare at him in admiration

But I can't blame them, 

he's mesmerizing to look at.

.

I can't believe I just said that.

I'm definitely keeping that moment to myself.

I walked into the classroom, carrying a big stack of math textbooks Mr Umehara asked me to bring to class.

It's 5 minutes before the end of recess.

So, a lot of students are in class.

Fortunately, the staff room and classroom are on the same level.

So, carrying 20 thin textbooks wasn't much of a struggle.

Just as I was about to place those textbooks on the table,

I felt a push from the back, and I fell forward hitting my waist on the edges of the professor's desk.

My whole upper body landed on the desk and the textbooks went flying everywhere.

I immediately stood up straight and looked behind to see who the irresponsible crook was.

And of course, it was Kyle.

He gave an innocent smile, trying to make up for his earlier mistake.

I sighed.

Too bad he didn't mature as much as he glowed up.

"Kyle...." I groaned.

"Sorry Ava." Kyle apologized.

"It's fine, just be more careful and aware of your surroundings. Will you?" I asked as I kneeled down to pick up the books.

Kyle kneeled down too and did the same.

I'm happy that he at least has the decency to help me.

"I'm really sorry Ava, it's just that I've been running and trying to hide away from-" Kyle said, picking up the books.

"KYLE!" 

We both turned our heads to the door and saw Duncan with 2 nerf guns, one pointed at Kyle and one pointed at me.

"You have an ally I see." Duncan bellowed. "Then both of you shall get pelted!"

He cocked both of his guns and pulled the trigger.

I covered my face out of instinct as I braced myself for the incoming bullets.

Strangely enough, I didn't feel anything.

Was the gun not loaded?

I took a peek and saw Kyle lying down Infront of me,

a few bullets on his chest and some scattered on the floor.

"Do not...... get Ava..... into this." Kyle said, acting as if he was actually shot.

He's really taking this seriously.

Pretty dorky if you ask me.

"I won't hurt your lady." Duncan said. "I only planned to obliterate you and only you." 

I felt a weird rush in my body when he referred to me as Kyle's 'lady'

"And I plan to give you two detentions."

Mr Umehara, who was standing behind Duncan, had his arms crossed and his eyebrows raised.

"Oh shoot." Duncan cursed.

Kyle and I immediately stood up.

"Ava had nothing to do with this sir." Kyle said.

"Oh I know Kyle, Ava would never do such a thing." Mr Umehara said, walking inside the classroom.

"In fact, I think she was a victim in your foolish game."

He walked towards us and grabbed Kyle by the ear.

Suddenly, Kyle grabbed my hand and slipped a folded paper in it.

He closed my hand before getting dragged away by Mr Umehara

"Come on now boys, you know the drill." He said.

"Ow ow ow ow." Kyle whined.

He grabbed Duncans ear and dragged both of them out of class.

Before he can get far, he turned to the class.

"I'll be back late." He said before walking away.

Everyone's eyes were at me,

 because I was a victim of their tom foolery.

The only thing I could do was give a sheepish smile.

It was so embarrassing.

Still, I can't shake this weird feeling.

I unfolded the paper to see what Kyle had written on it.

'Date after detention?'

I felt myself heating up as I stared at the note.

I was feeling a flurry of emotions.

How can Kyle be so bold?

I bit my lip as I could feel myself smiling.

Maybe I should give him a chance.
