Violet had taken another couple of days off work even after she was cleared to return to work. Her body and mind were still exhausted and figured a few extra days of rest wouldn't hurt. She was in the middle of a reality tv episode, focused more on her knitting project than anything when the front door opened. Jack had reluctantly returned to work a few days earlier but luckily wasn't feeling too much of the after effects of the virus.

"Hey," He groaned out tiredly as he shut the door, grabbing a water before half slumping over the arm of the couch, hesitating for a long moment before turning his head to look at her. "Whatcha doin..." His words were muffled on the cushion of the sofa, his brows pushing together in confusion as he tried to get his vision to cooperate. It had been a long shift at the bar, a few of his staff had called out or been cut early by the other manager, leaving him to scramble during the rush.

"Knitting." While her throat felt so much better, her voice was still suffering, flipping between a low rasp or a pitched squeal.

"You knit now?" He chuckled lowly as his eyes felt heavier by the second.

"Have since high school." She told him. "Just haven't in a while...how was work?" She peered over, torn between amusement at his position on the couch and sympathy for the rough day he'd likely had.

"Cute little granny Vi..." He chuckled again into the cushion, exhaustion making him nearly delirious. While he hadn't had nearly as hard of a time getting better- the constant fatigue still remained. He sighed and stood again, moving to collapse down by her. "Work was fine, just really understaffed so it just really wiped me out." He leaned closer, groaning softly as his bad eye refused to focus on anything. "What are you makin?"

"Fuck, I'm sorry." She wished she could do more. "I'm just making a kitty basket for Nugget."

"I really like it-" his smile was tired but goofy still, "-well what I can see of it." He rubbed his bad eye. "But it's fine, like the shift wasn't bad I'm just still so groggy. I'm glad to be home again."

"Want me to make you something? I can't do fancy stuff yet, just basic knots and all that." Carpal tunnel kept her from doing intricate projects, but this and piano had always been a nice way of keeping her hands busy whenever she got a little lost in the noise in her head.

"You'd make me something?" The look of both genuine confusion and exhaustion on his face made her heart hurt.

"Of course! Just give Granny Violet a color scheme and we'll get creative." She finished tying off the end of a row, pulling a bit of the soft yarn neatly through the loop into a clean knot and placed her project under the coffee table.

"I-" He tried to hide his smile. "Hmm, um- black and red or black and purple?"

"I should've figured." She smiled and handed him the remote.

"Thank you... I'm excited to see what you make. I know I'll love it." He smiled sweetly at her, still surprised that she would put in that kind of time to make something for him. He put on a quiet show before reluctantly getting up again. "I gotta change, I'm pretty sure I still smell like the badly made cosmo my coworker spilled on me today." He laughed softly.

"No problem." She'd have to order some more materials, having only bought these impulsively as a restful activity while she continued to recover. But it wouldn't be so bad to keep up with it. The question now was to find the perfect material to knit with. She already had an idea of what to make; something to add to his sparse room. "Why would anyone order a cosmo there?" She teased, knowing there were much better places in the city for that kind of drink. Speaking of, she figured Jack might want one after his shitty shift. She headed to the kitchen to pull out some vodka and poured it over ice before drizzling some orange juice into it for flavor and then poured herself a glass of wine, pulling out her phone to scroll through yarn options.
