It took two stressful weeks of tentative job applications, finals, and very little sleep before Violet found out her place with the company was stable. Lyson, of all people, had been the one to tell her.

"Nah, I was in the meeting and they were deadass practically eating yours from all the attention you got at the party." He told her with a laugh. "Said if you can keep MGK and BONES from killing each other, you're gold." His words had sent waves of relief through her and she was reminded that she wouldn't have to be alone this Christmas.

It was quiet throughout the apartment when Violet left her room for some snacks. After ten minutes of scrolling through TikTok, she finally got some motivation to eat something. Meandering into the kitchen, she had a full view of the living room, now seeing why it was so quiet; Jack was passed out on the sofa, an anime theme song playing softly from the TV. While the sight softened her heart, it wasn't until her eyes saw Nugget napping peacefully on top of Jack's back. The sight was so precious that Violet couldn't help the tears from flowing down her cheeks from all the heavy emotions, it was such a sweet sight after such a long few weeks. However, there was a tinge of sadness that no one was cuddling her. While she would have loved nothing more than to delve into Jack's arms and nap, her back pain and cramps would keep her uncomfortable until the Midol kicked in. She hoped that would be soon because crying seemed the easiest thing to do at this point.

"Hmm, wha?" Jack woke to her sniffling, much to Nugget's dismay as he angrily scampered away to stretch after such a cozy nap. "Violet, what's wrong?" He rushed to fully wake up, before sitting up and making his way over to her.

"I'm fine," she reassured him pathetically. "I'm just a sensitive little bitch." She tried to catch her breath as she wiped the tears away. He gave her a sleepy grin as she fumbled to open the bag of crackers. "I-I heard back about the layoffs..." Jack felt his stomach twist as he braced himself for the worst, his smile quickly fading. The worst was all that ever seemed to happen anymore, why would he get his hopes up now? He didn't even see Violet's hidden smile as she munched on the snack. "I'm um... they're uh, they're keeping me on." It was like a rubber band snapped in their stomachs, excitement for the first time in a while pouring through them.

"Don't fuck with me about this... deadass?" The smile grew on Jack's face.

"Deadass." Violet almost squeaked out, not having expected him to be so ecstatic.

"BABY! WHAT!?" He ran over and scooped her up in an almost painfully tight hug for a few moments too long before gently let her down again. "Holy fuck, you know what this means right??"

"Um, drinks?" She laughed, the joy spreading through her veins like wildfire at the mere sight of his smile, allowing herself to bask in the warmth of his arms around her. She almost didn't let go of her grip around his shoulders.

"Well, I mean yeah that's a given..." He rolled his eyes. "-but no, better than that..." A playful look danced in his eyes. "Hang on..." Jack ran to his room, knowing full well he was taking this joke a bit far at this point, but for some reason that made it funnier to him even still, and they could both use a good laugh. He grabbed a sheet of copy paper and drew out a hideously messy, fake divorce contract before placing it in an old manilla folder. He rushed back out and handed her the folder. "You want to do the honors or should I?" She looked at the offered folder, hesitantly taking it, unsure of what shenanigans he was up to now as she took it out and examined the words 'Divorce Papers' scrawled messily on the top with a blue crayon.

"Oh my goddddd!" Her cheeks were now hurting from smiling so much. She couldn't remember the last time she'd felt this happy, like the sun was shitting in her chest.
