|| The splatters dripped, dripped, dripped to the floor. ||
━━━━━━━━━▼━━━━━━━━━The blaring of alarms echoed through the facility, loud and unending as instructions were hastily given out over the intercoms. You had been alone, passing through a stairwell, when the alarm began which effectively meant that the moment you went into a hallway, it was already empty. This was fine. You were totally okay with a containment breach happening when you weren't actively aiming to escape the facility.
Nothing was said about which SCP had broken containment but you assumed that it likely got out of control and there were now multiple ones roaming around now. There had to be some sort of protocol for staff evacuations or safe rooms but nothing for SCPs (or was that just for you specifically?). Were they just expecting you to survive? What a load of bull. The MTF would probably take forever to arrive so it would make more sense for you to try to find a place to sit around rather than wait for them.
The only good news was that you still had Clef's keycard. It would definitely save you a lot of time since you wouldn't have to run around searching for more keycards like last time. If you could get your hands on a level 5 keycard again though... Well, you could save that for later. For now, you had to decide where to go.
You could cross your own containment chamber off the list. It wouldn't be safe to stay in there if you got cornered. You didn't especially feel like going to Heavy Containment Zone and Light Containment Zone, where you were at right now, wasn't particularly interesting either. Maybe you could wander around until you found someone who could actually be helpful.
Since the breach had only just started, all the lights were fully functioning which gave you less to complain about in terms of lighting. It didn't quite suit the horror universe aesthetic when the lights weren't flickering every five seconds though. Well, no matter. It would all eventually fall apart anyways. As you walked through the now vacant halls, it struck you how silent everything felt without the ever present murmurs of various people walking about. Perhaps it was strange how quickly you had gotten used to the ambience of Site-17 after transferring.Where would everyone be, you wondered. Many of the doctors you had met (the important ones? It sounded cruel when you worded it like that.) would probably be running around, taking advantage of the chaos. You had the feeling that this containment breach wasn't arranged by any of them but that didn't mean they couldn't further their own agendas during it. 073... he probably evacuated or something. Since he had been at Site-17 for far longer than you have, he likely knew what to do here during a breach. That or the staff actually evacuated him considering how important he was. Either way, he was far less fragile than you were. He would be fine.
You stepped forward and your feet sunk into the soft ground. Oh. Oh no.
You were careless.
The price you paid for just a moment of inattentiveness would bare its teeth here as a rotting hand grasped your ankle. Slowly, the dark puddle you stepped into grew wider and wider. Then, in a swift motion, the entirety of your body was pulled into the pocket dimension. A haunting laugh followed. Idiotic, you were absolutely foolish. You should have known that nothing would go smoothly so long as you were still alive.
And now, you were alone.
It was dark within the pocket dimension, your eyes still adjusting from the bright lights of the hallways. Unsteadily, you stood upright, noting the dull ache in one ankle where 106 had grabbed you. The smell of rotting flesh permeated throughout the dimension. Although you didn't like the sterile cleanness of citrus in the facility, it was far better than this.
