More aliens were pouring out of the portal in the sky.

Noelle gritted her teeth. They could hold off the Chitauri as long as they were able, but it meant nothing if they didn't close the portal sooner rather than later.

"Call it Captain," said Tony.

"Alright, listen up," said Steve. "Until we can close that portal our priority is containment. Barton, I want you on that roof. Eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you've got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash."

"Wanna give me a lift?" Barton asked Tony.

"Right, better clench up, Robin." With that, Tony and Barton were off.

"Thor, you've gotta try and bottleneck that portal. Slow 'em down. You've got the lightning. Light the bastards up. Noelle, anything Thor misses, I want you to catch. Don't let them touch the ground."

Noelle took a deep breath and nodded. She wasn't sure she could, but she'd have to try.

She looked over at Thor. He gave her a slight smile.

"Would you like a lift too?"

Noelle gave him one back. "Well I can't fly all the way up there, so yes... please." She took a deep breath as Thor offered her his arm. She wasn't exactly scared of heights or falling, it was just–

She yelled in surprise as he shot up off the ground quicker than she could breathe. Her heart was in her throat, as all the blood rushed from her head to her toes. She gripped his arm tighter.

"Thhhooooorrrrr!!!"

"What?" she heard him yell in response. She could hear the smile in his voice though.

They landed on the edge of a huge skyscraper, right across from what Noelle recognized as the Chrysler Building.

She felt the vertigo setting in when she was back on her feet, and held out her arms, trying to steady herself. Her heart was racing.

"Are you alright, Noelle?"

Noelle actually felt dizzy and like she was going to get sick, but she gave him a thumbs-up. "Yeah, I'm good."

Thor frowned. He didn't appear convinced, but he let it go. There was no time. He pointed at the Chrysler Building with his hammer.

"You see that building over there?"

Noelle nodded. "It's kind of hard to miss."

"I will be up there," Thor said. "I will try to destroy as many Chitauri that come through the portal. Anything that gets past me, you must stop it."

She took a deep breath. "I will," she promised.

"Good." Thor gave her one last long look before he shot up into the sky and landed on the very top of the Chrysler Building.

Releasing a breath she hadn't known she was holding, Noelle immediately sensed the sky beginning to darken above them. She heard the booming sound of thunder as well.

It was coming. She had to be ready.

Even from a distance, she could see sparks of electricity beginning to sizzle off of Mjolnir. A huge bolt of lightning in the sky linked itself to the hammer and branched out in a thousand different directions. The windows of the Chrysler Building were shattering.

That's going to be a lot of damage.

Noelle saw the Chitauri who got too close to Thor explode into bits. She saw one get past him and she used her powers to Force-push him and crash him into the side of a building.
