Lucas arose from his bed, rubbing his eyes with some fatigue behind his movements. Then, as he realised what day it was, his mind burst with excitement and his body was invigorated with a new sense of energy. He leapt suddenly from the bed and flicked open the blind effortlessly, letting sunlight fade through the window into his dark room. Letting the window fly open, he looked around the outside of the Pokemon Centre to find many a trainer outside. It appeared that the lobby was at almost maximum capacity with the trainers and their loved ones. Why were so many of them there, when it should be so early?

"Did I sleep in?", Lucas thought and frantically scrabbled to grab his phone. He stared at the time but found that he was not in fact late. Instead, many of the trainers had just decided to be there earlier than expected. His breathing calmed as he set down his phone on the desk adjacent to the bed, and changed into his outfit. Lucas had wanted the chance to meet some trainers before the tournament, and with the trainers in abundance in the Pokemon Centre, it seemed like an absolutely golden opportunity that he could not let go to waste. He disembarked from the room soon after, with Torchic resting on his shoulder. Torchic was filled with the same resolve to meet Pokemon and people alike, prompting Lucas to set off out of the room even earlier than anticipated. Lucas waited for no one and instead rushed through the corridor and into the stairwell leading to the lobby.

He took a peak in the lobby, only to find it crawling with activity. Some looked generic, with their trainer outfits similar to Lucas and Harry's, while some had clearly made an effort to stand out in front of a crowd. There was a girl dressed in all pink that looked just a touch younger than Lucas and who stood alongside her partner, a cheerful-looking Chansey. She seemed to be happily chatting away with any person around her, yet she avoided one person.

A small kid dressed as if he was attending a formal event rather than a Pokemon tournament, stood alongside his Pokemon of choice. The child looked too young to be alone, and people wouldn't have thought of him as a trainer if it hadn't been for the Garchomp standing next to him. Lucas had only seen the Pokemon on TV before and heard it was a pretty fearsome Pokemon. But, the TV didn't do justice to just how menacing Garchomp was. Not one person even approached the child because of his Garchomp, and when the kid tried to strike up a conversation, other trainers were keener to end it so they could avoid Garchomp's glare. But, the child seemed to be quite proud of his Garchomp's fearsome appearance, like it mattered an awful lot that he was feared. And, from having such a strong Pokemon, it was clear that it went to his head, as given by his smug smile when people cowered in fear of his Garchomp. Lucas went to scan the Pokemon to learn more but was soon stopped by a tap on the shoulder. Lucas turned around,

"Lucas, can you move further down? Feel kinda stuck here.", Harry said. Lucas swiftly started his descent down the staircase, landing on the floor and allowing Harry to find himself out of the stairs. Harry looked around at the other trainers, then at Lucas, asking,

"So, are you up for an early start as well?"

"Yeah, I want to meet a few trainers and warm up for the first match later today."

"Then, why don't we have a battle ourselves?", Harry asked, approaching the door and letting it open to the battlefield. He already knew that Lucas would say yes so he didn't really need much confirmation. However, once they both stepped outside, they quickly were stopped.

"Oh right, other trainers.", Lucas thought as he saw many trainers around the battlefield, sitting on the bleachers next to the battlefield. Then, there stood one on either end of the battlefield, locked in a fierce fight. Lucas and Harry both took their seats and watched the two battle. One appeared to be a trainer from a foreign nation, given that she had a fiery chimp as a partner that Lucas knew was not native to Hoenn. Lucas scanned the Pokemon,
