Rubi bled out until all she could see was red. The lights that came through were pounding in her head through the blood flowing out of her head and body.

She felt her body slowly cooling down and her breathing hitched.

She knew her end was near.

It was just another day of her busy schedule. Her work as a global sensational idol was not easy at all.

But she was never one to turn down challenges of life thrown to her.

This time, fate got the better of her.

Somehow she didn’t find herself regretting the fact that she will die here, in a car crash at that.

Being debuting at the young age of 22, being an idol for 8 years of ups and downs, and dying at the age of 30 didn’t feel that bad after all.

Rubi could hear the media coming.  Too late, she thought.

As she breathed her last breath, her thoughts were blank, but content.

****************************

"Huh!"

Rubi woke up with a gasp. And was hella confused.

'Wait, what? Didn’t I die? What happened? How am I even here?'

Wait a minute forget about why. Where even is 'here'?

Rubi was so dead confused. Because she was sure she just died a few seconds ago in the car crash.

'Was I dreaming? Or is this the afterlife?'

Turns out it wasn’t the afterlife, and it wasn’t a dream either.

She was alive, in another place that looked completely different than she expected.

She looked to be a dirty shabby room,  the room was empty and was dark. There was a small window from where sunlight was creeping in through, signifying that it’s actually daytime.

Rubi rubbed her eyes as she took in her own apparence. Her hands were dainty and she had long nails.

Her clothes were torn in places and she had many cuts in her body.

Overall she was not in a good condition.

' I need to find something to clean the wounds.'

Turns out the house was actually in a forest. Not that it was a deep forest. Because civilisation could be heard from here. Just that the house was abandoned.

She looked at the mirror in the house and gasped.

Her face was the same as it was in her past life, except she had exceptionally long hair and her dress was not a dress, she was wearing robes.

Her robes were a combination of a few different colours, making it look vibrant,  but due to the messy condition of it, it didn’t look good. Her hair was styled by keeping two thick locks braided and then put behind by a hairpin.

She was not sure what to do now.

Was she supposed to go and find people? Even if she did, she doubted that anyone will help her in anyway.

After all by the looks of it, she definitely time travelled to the past.

It seemed like the only explanation.

Except that it was even stranger.

She didn’t feel completely human.

Her eyes were glowing a very bright neon yellow and her pupils were.... sort of distorted.

They looked like they belonged to Valak from Conjuring 2.

And in fact, it kind of did.

Because at the thought of a demon, energy started to gather around her body, healing it slowly but surely.

It felt...wonderful. She was not sure what this energy was. But it felt like some kind of light waa flowing throughout her bodily veins.

In a while her wounds got healed.

Now for her clothes.

She did not have any money with her.

Rubi sighed, 'Turns out I really do have to go to civilisation for any money. I can't just be penniless and live.'

At the thought of living, she felt oddly spaced out. She was supposed to die, but there she was, standing here, in a different time. How, she didn’t know one bit.

But to find how, she had to live.

With some new found objective as to where and why she was here, she took her road to the nearby city.

Turns out the city was really vibrant.

There were vendors selling all sorts of things, people were bustling in the market, noise filled the area, and the people looked busy and happy with their lives.

Rubi smiled.

The image of such a marketplace was so peaceful.

She kept walking inside of it. She was getting a few strange looks because of her tattered robes, but she was used to shares. She ignored them.

Suddenly someone bumped into her from behind.

"Ouch! Sorry! I didn’t see you Guniang."

Rubi turned around to see who it was. The voice was light, filled with life and laughter, and sounded fairly young.

As she turned around, she froze.

It was a young lad. He was wearing black and red robes, a sword hanging by his waist, his long black hair tied in a ponytail by a red ribbon. He had vibrant silver eyes and a handsome face.

Rubi would recognise him anywhere in the world.

It was Wei WuXian!
