These things were absolutely, terrifyingly, huge compared to you. It was like they hovered above you. They seemed to be some type of humanoid. This humanoid you ran into grabbed you by your throat, though you're yet to learn they only kill threats. They examined you, tilting their head and their gaze moved downwards. You held onto their wrist as they lifted you and turned you, taking a look at your wound.

There was something about your cut that you couldn't tell why they seemed intrigued, mostly because you were in a position where you couldn't see for yourself. The humanoid behind you was facing off with the creature, then you saw a tail sneaking up behind the one who held you by your neck.

You gasped and breathed heavily in an attempt to let them know, but you couldn't form words. You pointed behind them quickly and they turned, dropping you when they saw the creature and ducked. Your knees buckled as soon as your feet hit the ground and you ended up crawling away towards the left side.

As you got to one of the stone pillars you began to stand, though you were grabbed from the back of your neck and turned to face what seemed to be a third humanoid. Three?!

Though, of course, because of their height you had to look up. So far they posed no immediate or obvious threat to you, but the rest of the team were on the run, as you should be too. There was no escaping their grip, they kept a grasp on the back of your neck and pushed you along away from the action, but the two creatures began to follow.

One of the humanoids shot one of their web things at them, which you could see was physically damaging as it pierced their skin in a block design. Your eyes widened to its cries, you could emotionally feel its pain, anger, but also its ambition to get free. In turn, you felt confused as to how you decipher this without trying, like an empathetic, but this was beyond that.

The newcomer then got distracted as a creature jumped at them, you being released and you turned to see them. The team was anticipating your escape as you looked at them. You ran past everyone towards the team as the humanoids dealt with the creatures.

You made it, what's left of the team scurried out of the room and you glanced behind you to see everyone still fighting. Though, the creatures seemed to catch onto your absence. It distracted them for the moment giving the humanoids a chance to overpower them completely.

You didn't stay to see what happened next. The group filed outside of the room coming to a halt at a staircase, which Weyland collapsed on finding it hard to breathe and keep up.

He urged everyone to go on without him, and told Sebastian as well as Dr. Miller to get you both out safely.

"I think you underestimate me, Weyland, but now isn't the time for that discussion. Does anyone still have any of the weapons?" You questioned, glancing between Lex and Sebastian.

"Yeah, it's here" Lex retrieved it from her bag, handing it to you.

"We saw that these belong to those...humanoids, so what if they're after this? I know we came so far, but what good will we be if we can't even get out of here alive?" You spoke, your eyes shining with hope as you looked to Weyland.

"Are you saying we give it to them?" Weyland met your eyes.

"We give it back to them." There was silence, but Weyland quietly nodded as he looked away. As if on cue, Lex and Sebastian reacted to something behind you. They hurried to get Weyland on his feet, but he began insisting he stay back to face the humanoid and hand over the weapon. You refused to allow that to happen and urged them all to fall back while you stayed.

"Trust me." You said, and they hurried as fast as they could up the stairs.

You turned around, the humanoid ascended up the stairs, and your heart pounded as they approached closer, clearly focused on you. They paused, a strange purr coming from them as they seemed to observe you. You quickly held the weapon up to them, keeping your eyes on their masked face. They linger their sight on you and the weapon before accepting it.

As they set their weapon up on their shoulder, you could only stand in place. You both stood there for a moment, before you attempted to step up the stairs without turning away. They take a step forward, and you step back again, but they follow. Before you know it you're almost at the top, but you tripped falling back. A gasp escaping your lips as you tripped.

The humanoid towered over you, obviously looking you over. Their sights stopped on your hand covering where you were injured. They reached down to move your hand, and as they lifted your hand, your skin was stained with a dark green, but in their vision it was an abnormal observation. They knew it didn't match up to normal human blood, but you had human in you. As if deciding if you were a threat or not, their gun was aimed at you. Your breath hitched in your throat, but your eyes remained connected to their masked face.

Shortly after, another humanoid approached, pausing next to them. They glanced at you then the other. They seemed to communicate with one another through their own language of low purring, clicking noises. The second humanoid looked at you again.

You would have taken the opportunity to get up and run, but given they had their weapons, not to mention a skill set not even you matched, you weren't sure what your chances would've been to escape. So, it was better to sit and wait. If they wanted Prey, you weren't that by sitting, unprovoked, not a threat.

"What do you want?" You asked, unsure if they'd understand.

The second humanoid stared at you, the other tilted their head at you. Then, before you knew it, you were grabbed around your neck and dragged away.

Author's Note

--

First, in the future I will combine these two parts into one, because I prefer them to not be separated. It's only an improv thing when I want to hurry and get content out to ya'll, so that's the only exception to divide chapters into parts. They won't  permanently be parts, basically.

Second, this is the end of chapter 9, so next will be chapter 10 :)

Third, I meant to update last night after work, but I was really tired coming home and I word today at 5AM, so I ended up sleeping early. Anyways, I hope ya'll enjoyed!

Also, have ya'll seen the Pitch Black/Riddick movies? I thought of  getting inspiration from there too, regarding Riddick's vision, however I feel it would be a complicated, and somewhat convoluted storyline for just this book. If I do a sequel, or another plot, perhaps I can go another route.

As always, follow me for story updates, and discussion updates on my profile. <3
