Y'all know about the thoughts.

Basically, this is a chapter about how Avery and Jameson respond to the last chapter. Jameson's P.O.V starts when Em first locks herself up, but Averys starts when Jameson fetches everyone.

Jameson's P.O.V

Layc had locked herself in her room.

When she wasn't at dinner, I got suspicious. I asked around, and a maid told me all the entryways to her room were locked.

This has happened before.

What did Gray do?

I searched the entire house for Gray, only to find him swimming laps in the pool.

I sat at the edge, taking a swig of my latest drink.

He swam back my way.

I don't think he's noticed me.

"What did you say?"

He popped his head out the water, blinking.

"Why do you think it was me?"

I took another swig.

"You're the only one who'd be a jerk to her."

He scowled, hopping out of the pool.

"I could use some of that."

I looked at the bottle in my hand, passing it to him.

He took a swig.

"I'm an idiot."

"Even drunk, I know that."

He's so stupid, whatever he did was wrong.

"I told her..."

He paused, taking another swig.

"She was asleep. Whimpering, shaking."

Ah, her typical nightmares.

Was it her mother, or her father, that tortured her this time?

"I didn't know what to do."

That's right, he doesn't know about them.

"She wouldn't wake. I did the only thing I could think of."

He took yet another swig.

"I slapped her awake."

My head snapped toward him, eyes wide.

Will it be Gray next time?

Will her next torturer be Gray?

"She woke, but had this scared look in her eyes."

Of course she did, do you not remember her past?

"I tried to approach her, to help her."

Wrong move, dumbass.

"She told me to leave."

Well, duh.

"I didn't. I couldn't. I wanted to help, but told her..."

No.

No, you did not.

"I told her I hated her, and she shouldn't rely on me. That she was on her own."

I stood up, taking the bottle from his hands. I downed the rest in one go.

"Asshole."

I shoved the bottle into his chest.
