Two weeks had flown by and her life has been nothing but chaos. After being revealed as Matteo's wife it hasn't been the same. Everyone from home looked at her differently and didn't even want to be around her. It was like they completely disowned her. Even the employees at her fathers restaurant who she's known since she was just a baby couldn't even look at her.

To say her heart completely shattered was an understatement. But she kept her head up and went on with her business like nothing has changed. She's still the same girl.

But it has been rather difficult to conceal her stomach the more she grew. She wore baggier clothes every time she went out. It was starting to annoy her. She had pleaded with Matteo to reveal this secret too but after that night of seeing their baby's first outfit he had become more possessive and territorial. Who knew a baby's outfit would bring out such a reaction.

...

Andrea found herself lying down on an examination table at Mia's clinic. And with her sat an impatient Matteo who couldn't understand what was taking so long to be seen. She was excited to have him there because she hasn't been able to experience this journey with him but he was ruining it by his constant nagging.

"She's taking too long," he grumbles, his leg bouncing uncontrollably.

She wondered if being at a doctors office makes him nervous or he just hates waiting in general but whatever the reason he wasn't being a good sport.

"I'm sure she's just with another patient. It's only been fifteen minutes," she tries to be level headed with him.

"No, she should be here right now attending to you. She knew we were coming in today. I'm going to find her," he goes to stand up.

"Matteo," she snaps. "Stop it. You will go nowhere. So sit back down and wait like me. We're in no rush here."

He mumbles something under his breath.

He opens his phone and occupies the next ten minutes by answering text messages and emails. And before they knew it Mia was entering the room.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," she apologizes. "We've fallen behind schedule today. But overall, how are you feeling?"

"I'm doing okay. I've been finding it a little difficult trying to put shoes on," they share a laugh.

"Anything else I should know about?"

"I've been getting headaches a lot and my feet have been swelling. It's becoming quite uncomfortable."

Mia hums in response as she puts on a pair of gloves, pulls Andrea's shirt up and drapes a cloth across her lap for clean up afterwards.

"That's expected," she affirms. "But if you can't shake the headache and it lasts for an extended amount of time or your feet become too painful that you can't walk, call me."

Andrea nods.

Mia grabs the gel to put on her stomach, making the comment, "it'll be a little cold," and squeezes the bottle.

She takes the transducer and places it on her stomach, swiping the gel across the areas she wants to look at.

Instantly the heartbeat echos throughout the room.

"Strong heartbeat, that's good," Mia smiles. "Hear that Matteo?" She looks over her shoulder.

It was almost like he was in a frozen trance. He was attuned to the sound that echoed. He was fixated on the beat. It was fast.
