As Alyson turned the corner into the room, it was a simple table and chairs. A dark stain coated the wooden table. It looked like a bachelor pad, very dark and moody. Alyson looked at Violet, who had dark clothes and hair that matched the room. Marshall's deep brown mid-length hair fell in waves as he poured himself a cup of coffee. His eyes matched the colour of the coffee. The slight slant made it clear that he was Inuit.

Alyson looked between Violet and Marshall: the hair colour was where the similarities ended in two. Violet's face looked more Hispanic, but her skin was a pale cream colour. Alyson wondered what the story of this mismatched family was.

"So, Alyson, tell me a bit about yourself," Violet said, resting her head on her hand.

"What do you want to know?" Alyson accepted the cup of coffee Marshall silently offered.

"What kind of music do you listen to?" Violet asked, her eyes gleaming.

"I don't listen to much music. I listen to classical, but there's a bit of alternative music here, a pinch of metal and a dash of pop." Alyson said, swirling the coffee slightly.

"Good, you've got potential. As long as you don't listen to indie or that weird section of rap," Violet said. Alyson could practically see Violet checking off a mental list of things. Violet pushed her dark straight hair behind her ear and looked at Alyson closely.

"What's your favourite colour?"

"Orange."

"Your star signs?"

"Libra, I think. I don't pay attention to those much."

"Good, I'm an Aquarius," Violet said. Alyson knew almost nothing about star signs, so this information was lost on her.

"How old are you?"

"18, almost 19."

"17. Any siblings?"

"8 half-siblings."

"Woah, that's a lot," Violet said, blinking heavily.

"Yep, I'm the middle child. There are nine in total, counting me. I was born between two sets of twins."

"Brutal. I've got two siblings, Robbie and an older sister who disappeared." Violet said, slowing down the onslaught of questions.

"Brutal indeed, though it sounds like your sibling situation isn't great either," Alyson said, drinking the last bit of coffee from the dark mug.

"Mate?"

"Technically, but we're separated because he's an idiot." At that, the quiet conversation between Marshall and Mathew stopped. Mathew almost choked on his coffee.

"Care to explain?" Violet said, raising an eyebrow. Alyson looked at the three other people in the room as she huffed a heavy sigh.

"It's complicated. I don't want to dig too deeply into it now, but I'll give you the short of it. Basically, on my first mission as a leader fucked up badly." Alyson's throat became dry at the thought of Mason's death. She gulped heavily and continued, "Then the rest of the pack thought it'd be a good idea to leave me home as they took care of the Skinwalker problem on the supermoon. Which is fucked up in the first place, but they were gone for a week. I couldn't even go after them because they left me with two babies. Hayden knew all about this but didn't say a word to me. He left me there all by myself for a week!" Alyson said, getting angry at the mere memory of it all.

"What a bunch of assholes," Violet said.

"you're telling me. They had such an elaborate lie. They took advantage of the fact that I grew up completely human. They lied to me that weres had to shift on supermoons!" Alyson said, her grip on the mug becoming tighter and tighter. It was removed from her hands by her dad.
