Alyson woke up the next morning feeling groggy. Her arm was sore and her heart was heavy. Blinking a few times her memory started to return. She prayed it was only a cruel nightmare. But Hayden's presence was missing, fortifying the realness of her memory. Slowly she sat up and brought her knees to her chest. Stiff sadness washing over her, mixing with anger and hurt. The look of disappointment on Hayden's face still shown in her mind.

Letting out a sigh she got out of bed and looked over the wound, it was already starting to heal. But it was still sore and the bandage covered in blood. Her lungs were now back to full capacity, her head still hurt but that pain never really seemed to stop so she'd gotten used to it now.

She changed the bandage softly crossing the wound sending bolts of pain through her. Yet she still did it. Her mind conjured an image of her plunging her fingernails into the raw flesh and ripping away muscle. She shuttered at the mental image yet couldn't help but feel an urge to do so.

Then Kai's excited barks rung through her ears. She instantly felt stupid for thinking such things, all because some boy broke her heart. She lived her whole life before this without ever needing anybody other than herself. No way was she going to let some asshole who didn't even let her explain what happened to drag her through depression. If he wouldn't believe her then that was his problem, not hers.  And god so helps him, if he tries to come back and demands answers from her. He'll get answers alright, but he won't like them. Why should she have to explain herself to him, when he was the one who blew up on her?

No, she wouldn't play the victim role. If he wants to act like a child and refuse to hear her out then she would play along and pretend nothing between them ever happened. She'd live life like her and Hayden were never together and see how he like that. If he wants to be an asshole, she'll let him! And Alyson won't forgive him unless he comes back crawling and then she'll still have to think on it.

There is absolutely no need for her to feel sad. She did nothing wrong. Alyson nodded to herself gathering her strength and abandoning her sad thoughts.

"Kai! You need to go out?" Alyson asked with a bright happy tone. Kai danced around. Alyson laughed at his puppyish behaviour.

"Let me get on some warm clothes and we'll go outside," Alyson agreed.

Kai's tail wagged excitedly as they left the room, Alyson nearly bumped into someone as she came out of her room. Julia looked at her surprised.

"You seem awfully bubbly this morning," Julia said with a smile on her face.

"Feeling better than I was yesterday that's for sure," Alyson said her tone bright.

"I can see that. Where you off to?" Julia asks.

"Kai needs outside. We'll probably be out there for a while," Alyson says her eyes watching her pup as he sits patiently next to her.

"Mind if I tag along?" Julia asks.

"But what about Liza?" Alyson asks.

"Oh, Sarah's having grandma time with her and Jasper," Julia says laughing.

"Ah, I see. Then sure, I'd love to have some company," Alyson says. The two girls walked outside instantly Alyson felt the chill in the air, she looked over to Julia who was sporting a simple sweater. Alyson silently cursed werewolves ability to control their body temperature.

"So, how'd things work out between you and Hayden after dinner. I assume you worked things out?" Julia asks.

"Oh, he never came back into the room last night," Alyson said a small twinge of pain rattling her heart, but she was quick to shove it away and keep the determination up.
